Can you decorate with this icing? Would roses hold? Can it be tinted?

No, this frosting is not for decorating. It is a meringue type frosting, and even if you whip it until firm peaks form, it cannot be used for making roses. It can be tinted. It is similar to a 7 minute frosting my mother used to make, and is soft and fluffy and delicious.

Is this similar to the Walmart whipped BetterCream icing?

I am really not sure. The recipe is based on the old '50 & '60 recipe for boiled egg white frosting. When I ordered it from Pillsbury, it did say that Walmarts sometimes sold it. However, I have been unable to find it at any of the 3 Walmart locations near me. If it looks like the box on the left of this page, then you have the right product. You have to whip it between 5-7 minutes and it is delicious. If you make it when there is too much humidity, I add a tablespoon of marshmallow fluff to firm it up. I made it for my husband Gary's birthday and by the time I left the house and brought it out to the picnic table, it said Happy Birthday Gory, not Gary. It is so close to a marshmallow taste that you only enhance the flavor by adding some and save yourself some embarrassment. In my case no one could stop laughing.!

Is the expiration date on the frosting boxes you've received a long time in the future?

I ordered the case of 12 February 7, 2015 and probably received it that month. The expiration date is: 20 April 2016.

What is expiration date exact if I order today?

I ordered in May of 2021 and the boxes state the “best by” date is July 2, 2022, so, hopefully a year or so after the date you order it. Given the ingredients, though, I think it will be fine after the “best by” date.
