Safe and effective little workhorse!!
I bought this item after an exhaustive review of a ton of space heaters for our non-heated sunroom, where we are quarantining a stray cat for the winter. We needed something that would keep the sunroom at a decent temperature, especially as it can dip below freezing where we live. We wanted something that was quiet to not scare the cat now, and quiet for use later. Most importantly, it had to be safe for both the cat and our home. Family members also recommended oil filled radiator heaters and have used them for years. To be sure, this radiator heater is significantly more expensive than others on the market (though why it costs $40 more for the exact same version in black is beyond me). However, it's made by a well known and respected manufacturer and has safety and energy saving features galore to justify that cost. It heats up quickly, puts out a gentle stream of heat and is keeping our sunroom (easily about 12' x 24') warm. As an example, last night the temperature outside was 28 degrees F - we set the heater to 70 degrees F in Eco mode, and the room stayed between 55 and 60 degrees all night (we use sensors and check frequently on our phone). I also spend many hours in that sunroom in the evenings and found the temperature to be very comfortable in spite of winter's chill outside - the amount of heat this device exudes is fantastic. The heater was super easy to set up - just take it out of the box and plug it in. I was able to do it solo, but it is well packaged so it might be easier to have someone hold the box while you lift the heater out. It has a sleek, modern look to it. It's about 25 lbs and a solid appliance - I like that I didn't have to add oil, or do anything to the device to start using it. Note that this is not a compact heater, so make sure you have plenty of clearance room around for safety. There are no exposed coils to cause sparks/fire and while the fins can get hot, they aren't nearly as dangerous as other space heaters. Keep kids and pets away from the heated device, but that should be the norm for any space heater. I saw the reviews which say the heater pings, makes noises and has a chemical smell. My experience was different - it's super quiet and I didn't smell anything bad, though our sunroom is somewhat drafty which might have helped dissipate any odors. Controls are easy to use (though I'd like to have had a remote control feature) and pretty intuitive. Would have also liked to have a longer cord for portability. All in all, this is a sturdy, robust heater. Quiet, powerful and does what you need it to with a ton of safety features built in. The extra cost is worth it for a quality device, and we don't anticipate having to replace this any time soon. Once the cat quarantine is over, we are looking forward to replacing our existing space heater with this one for comfort and emergencies. Really glad we bought it.

Parrot safe space heater-excellent quality
I needed a parrot safe space heater for my bird room during the night in winter months. I did some research and many bird owners recommended this brand. I am so glad I researched. The heater works great. The quality is excellent. I have used it for almost 2 months now with no issues. It has a temperature timer (eco setting), so it turns off when it reaches temp and on when it drops below. You can also set it to run a certain amount of hours and then auto turn off. It runs very quiet, so it doesn’t scare my birds while they are sleeping. There is also no smell (after doing a several hour burn off before putting it in their room). I don’t find the top to get overly hot (I set it between 70 and 73 degrees, depending on the temperature outside). Even so, I do not have it on when the birds are out of their cages. It’s the only space heater that I have owned that I feel comfortable leaving on while I am sleeping at night. And, it’s the only one I have ever felt comfortable using in my bird room. There are handles on the sides and wheels on the bottom, so I easily move it from the middle of the room to next to the wall every morning and back to the middle of the room every night. I chose the more expensive model and I am glad I did. I am very pleased with the DeLonghi Dragon space heater.

Works! Liked it so much I bought two for my house!
We have been renovating a 90’s build house and needless to say the house is drafty. Our master bedroom and master bathroom are significantly cooler than the rest of the house in the winter. Sometimes they have even been cold. I found this heater and was impressed with its features. I was not prepared for how nice this unit was. It arrived very well packaged and in perfect condition. Upon setting the feet into the correct position on the unit and plugging it in I found it to be extremely intuitive, convenient, and powerful. It has a digital thermostat, just like an AC/ heating unit, and power settings. I have 4 children 8 years old and under and two dogs and no one has burned themselves because of the design. The outer metal allows for greater heat distribution while also allowing the outer metal to be hot enough to reinforce the lesson we taught them not to touch it but not hot enough to burn them. Peace of mind in that safety. It also has a tip over sensor and safety switch. It’s very powerful for its size. Our master bedroom is quite abnormally large. It’s 16’ x 28’ with 10’ ceilings. And it heats so well that the first night when the outdoor temp was 26 degrees F we had to turn off the unit because our room was so hot. We had set it to 73 degrees and full power thinking it might struggle to put off enough heat as it was rated for only a 140’ sqft room. It’s not even listed in the specifications for a room that large. We now set it to 70 degrees and mid power and our room stays the perfect temp all night. We loved it so much we bought a second one for the master bathroom. Now our entire master suite is warm and comfortable! This thing was an answer to a sincere prayer. I feel happier living in our warm home and grateful to be living here instead of wondering what the heck I was thinking when I decided to buy a house with good bones in a great area but that required a bunch of work. After the work is finished and the house is sealed up I won’t need these anymore per say but I will never be giving these away. Of all my purchases this year this may be my favorite. Also, they are very gentle on the energy bill as well. Post covid we all need that. At least we do. I hope this novel of a review helps someone with their decision. Also, some buyers mentioned a loud clicking noise. I believe they did experience what they said. However, with the two that we own we have had no such issues. I am a light sleeper and I could not rest if they made any significant noises. The reviewers did state that they contacted the company and were giving replacements that did not experience the same issue. If I had to guess their units were most likely damaged during shipping. Best of luck and if your house is drafty I believe this may be the best option. Also, if it can’t fix it I believe the issue is more significant. Like there is open access to outside (massive cracks along doors or windows) or there is poor or no insulation. No amount of the heaters can responsibly be expected to combat that level of heat exchange.

Almost Perfect
UPDATE While I am still loving this heater there is one CON I have found while using it. It doesn’t have a timer, so I can’t program an on/ time (similar tot older version). I would love for it to be at a baseline in the winter then increase temp later in the evening and turn down before going to bed. The timer it does have allows you to set on for a certain amount of time then it shuts off. I have had this feature with other heaters and it was nice perk. ————- This oil based radiator is much better than a regular space heater. My daughter had one that I borrowed and it heated the room much better and for longer. I bought the same name and brand that she had bought 10 years ago. PROS - This does a good job of heating the room. It comes assembled, just had to set the wheels down. It is not noisy and the lighted display does not act like a night light at night. The display is easy to read and the buttons are easy push. CONS - Two cons about this product. The first con is the Beep noise it makes whenever you push a button. It is high pitch and sounds like a smoke detector beeping, but at a louder pitch. I once lived in a house with a glitchy smoke detector that would go off randomly in a two story house and I needed to get a ladder and un plug ALL the smoke detectors off along with the batteries so it would stop going off. With this happening at the early morning hours I am more sensitive to this beeping sound every time I push a button. No way to lower the sound is available. The second is “minor” but need to know for some people. It is snug in the box, making it a bit difficult to take out with one person. Especially since you are not supposed to lay it down. 2 people make this job much easier.

Works for finished basements
Excellent for a finished basement or the lower level of a split ranch that tends to get chilly in winter. Our HVAC heating has to be cranked in winter just to feel slightly comfortable down here, but then it gets much to hot upstairs, so we resort to wearing a lot of clothes and shoes instead. My husband has even worn his winter hats while being in his office, that is how cold it gets in the lower level of our split ranch. Not anymore! This heater did the trick. I set it to high wattage at 75 degrees for 1 hour to begin warming up the room (after gassing off for 2 hours outside). I placed it in the 21'x11' room with a 9'x7' bathroom attached. The bathroom door was left open. The other issue with this ]room is that it is connected to the door that leads into the unheated laundry/furnace room. From that point there is a door leading outside, so we get a really bad draft from this part of the house. Even with this issue, the room kept very warm at 72 degrees set to medium wattage.I chose to turn it down to 72 degrees and the lowest wattage and it seemed to be just right for keeping it comfortable. I then moved the heater into a different office space downstairs to see what setting would work best in there. The room is actually 2 rooms connected together with an open wall, so it is oddly shaped, like a "U". The overall measurement is probably around 22'x 19. The heater is currently set to 72 at the lowest wattage. The air is nice and warm, although the floors still have a chill, but that is unavoidable with tile floors right over concrete. They do seem less chilly than usual though. I may put down some carpet tiles to help keep the floor warmer for winter. I will be buying another heater so that both rooms will have one. It is likely we will be able to turn the heater down a tad bit more once we have a good flow of heat from both sides of the house. No more cold noses, fingers, legs and frozen feet. I was literally freezing at the legs and feet to the point where It was to unbearable to be in my office space, which also serves as a home school, recording studio, gym and crafting room. You cannot home school a child or create art in the cold, it only serves as a distraction from our work. These heaters are excellent for supplemental heat, but I am not sure about unheated basements. The heater is super quiet! Perfect for my needs. We are recording musicians and cannot have noisy appliances when we're working down here. Now and then you hear a click when heat is kicking back on, but it's not bothersome. In fact, I wish my HVAC was this quiet. With the extra heat, it is likely we will be able to keep the overall temp lower so that the system doesn't constantly kick on. This is just a temporary solution for us until we hire a company to come in and install a gas insert into our useless fireplace down here. Very pleased with this product.

Smells like burning rubber/oil/electrical , stinks up the whole (3000sqft) house in minutes UPDATED
Didn't use heater for over a month due to unusually warm weather. Finally used around Thanksgiving. It heated up a small room well enough though it had a faint electrical burning smell. Since then the smell has increased dramatically to the point it stinks up the whole (3000sqft) house in minutes. Smells like burning rubber/oil/electical now. Still heats well but makes you gag in the process. There is a serious defect in this heater. Looking in from the top a partially detached radiator segment can be seen. Looks to have been made that way as the paint shows no sign of damage. Unplugged now.and will attempt replacement or refund. Update: Called DeLonghi customer service. Was disconnected once while on hold after speaking to a rep, second time I called the gentleman advised me that it was referred to their technicians and probably they would send a call tag to be able to inspect the unit before taking any repair/replacement action. Really? This would have passed for customer service in 1960 but not today. The reason I bought the heater in the first place was to stay warm this winter. Now a long wait before I can stay warm again? Not very thoughtful on their part. UPDATE: Commenter for company obviously did not read the text of this as it already addressed all the helpful suggestions offered. After a month of use, burning oil/rubber smell has gotten progressively worse. I am not a rookie. I have had many space heaters including oil filled in my lifetime and none produced this kind of stink after a few hours' use. To be clear, this is not normal. I did call the customer service number and the results are shown in the previous comment. On the second try, I got a person who referred it to their technicians. Said they would call me. Gave me a case number 5530537. No call yet. Still cold here. If this is the best they can do, no more DeLonghi appliances for me and anyone else I can talk out of it. I have bought this brand before with no trouble, but then again, I never had to deal with what they consider to be customer service. Zero stars at this point. Latest UPDATE: After about another week someone did call, did not quibble, and asked where they could send a new unit. Unit received and after a few hours' burn-in, there is no detectable odor when used on ECO setting. When run on non-ECO, max heat, there is a little bit of the smell mentioned in the original post, but not enough to clear the house like the first one. I noticed there had been some other comments similar to mine about the strong smell. Maybe there was a production glitch recognized in the end. Regardless, I now have a working unit that rates 4 stars from me.

TOP Quality Oil-Filled Radiator
I just spent a crazy amount of time researching oil-filled radiator heaters (OFRHs), and Amazon has a LOT of them! I am reticent to admit exactly how much time I spent comparing & contrasting individual OFR heaters, because it's hard for people to understand why I am so nit picky and exacting when I research something that I'm going to buy. It's because most everything breaks or otherwise stops working now, so you have to replace many if not most mechanical / electronic items you buy (I'm beginning to wonder if there are "permanent breakdown" computer chips in some things, forcing you to buy new items every couple/few years anyway... on top of being cheap Chinese junk). In my experience, the lifespan of low to mid-range OFRHs is normally 1, at most 2 years. So a 3-year manufacturer's warranty will be great! And there's no need to buy an additional warranty because they run concurrent to the manufacturer's warranty (somewhat related side tangent: I've never dealt with Asurion, but Allstate is a total scam. If you call in with a valid claim, they will ask several questions until they hit on one that you answered the opposite of how you "should" have. Then they'll say "Sorry.. You're excluded from coverage. Just read your contract" (which basically negates and nullifies their ads, which lead you to believe you're covered. In reality, there are so many exclusions that what they are offering is nothing but smike & mirrors). Anyway, I have two parrots that I keep in an unheated room. Since they're tropical birds, and since it can get as low as 0 F or even minus 10 outside (50s in their room) it's imperative that the heat remains on for them 24/7, and every OFRH I looked at had an auto-timer shutoff at 24 hours. So to me this would mean having to start it again daily and always remember when it'd turn off. But what if some emergency happened and I couldn't get to it? This one has a 24-hr timer, and it's adjustable, but most importantly, they don't force you to have it automatically running whenever it's on and giving me one more thing I must remember to do everyday. So I think I looked at & comparrd every single OFRD on here. And generally speaking, with the cheapest ones, I've seen some reviews saying that the oil leaks out, and they smell really bad initially. I've had to regularly purshase a new one every 1-3 years even with the mid-range ones. They just simply stop working one day. Anyway, although I've only had thidls DeLonghi for about a week, I really love this OFRH. I also called their Warranty Dept and was really impessed with that too, and could tell that if you call in with a warranty issue, they're not going to ignore you. And it's an American I who I talked to (he even had perfect English!). If you pay attention to the weight of each OFRH you're comparing, you'll find that there's a big weight difference in them. You can presume from this that the heavier ones are built with thicker metal, and probably/possibly had more attention paid to it when being assembled... and also means it'll retain its heat longer than lighter ones made with thinner metal. This DeLonghi is the heaviest OFRD I found out of all on Amazon OFRHs at 26 poinds. Lighter one got down to as light as 17 pounds. Maybe even lower. Overall this OFRD feels rock solid, and it's the best one I've ever had. The ECO function is GREAT too. In the Spring when it starts warming up, there's no need to keep it on Low and just wasting electricity. But you do still want it on if it were to suddenly get cold (which can happen here). So this is a great idea to add this feature. But the absolute best thing of all is that this OFRH has a three-year warranty! This is the only OFRH I've seen with a warranty that long. That tells me that these are well put together.... good enough that they don't expect any to be coming back (or very few anyway), and that's a good sign.

DeLonghi Customer Service isn't that at all - Product broken on shipment
Well, I'd rather write an article about how the product worked and weather it was efficient or not, however I never got past the "warming up" stage. First, I was excited to get a small room heater with covers to prevent burning issues. This looked like the right product and I opted to go "all in" and get their top-of-the-line model rather than the cheaper models. After unpacking and pulling out the feet, I plugged it in and after about 30 seconds, the red "plug" lamp went off. Replugged it and then was able to power it on, got a full display for about 5 seconds then the entire display went away again... Repeated this for about 10 minutes and decided to call customer service... On the phone with customer service, it first off took almost half an hour to get someone on the phone. Not the worst line I've been in, but bad when you realize that the first call personnel are only call takers. They took my name/number, model number and S/N then said they would send me an email where I could send back my receipt proving my purchase and warranty. The email never came through. Two days later I called them again, went through the same issue (I had my case number so that speeded things up a little) at which point they said they needed to send me an email to prove my warranty again. Another day goes by (I do know how to check my spam boxes as well) and finally one comes in. I promptly attach a PDF of my receipt and all other information requested and... ...so far nothing. Been 4 days. I'm still on hold now trying to get through. All in all I've had this thing now almost 2 weeks and its never worked and I'm still trying to get the company to even have a tech talk to me about it. More as my situation develops... if it does... (update #1) Well this was interesting. So this time I got a rep within 5 minutes (yea!) but then after reading my file, the first thing he tells me to do is unplug the unit and cut the power cord, take a picture of the cut cord and send the picture back to them... Uh.... This will be interesting... (never did talk to a tech) (update #2) Another long journey. This time with better results. They finally did send me a new unit (months after this whole thing started) however I have the old unit now with a cut power cord sitting in the garage, they said just take it to an E-Waste center (guess cheaper to toss it than take it back and fit it which should have been easy for them). The new unit worked out fo the box and worked well. For my little 12x15 office, even in ECO mode, it warms it up quite nicely and doesn't burn you if you bump into it (ie, it has enough material around the fins that it heats up the room but doesn't heat you up on contact). Note however that it does take awhile to warm up and start heating things up. Its a little faster if you start it out of ECO mode and then in say 30 minutes, hit the ECO button to maintain the current temp. I have not yet put my power meter on the device to verify the power draw difference between normal operations and ECO operations, nor how much its really costing me per day to use (since its now summer, its not as easy to get a good read on its usage... I originally bought this for last winter). --- In summary, I like the product when it works. I was vastly disappointed with DeLonghi's customer service. They eventually rectified the situation, but it was months in the making. Would I buy it again? Probably through a retail store, but over Amazon, just too many hidden gotchas for a product of this size (ie, dropped in shipment, damaged, etc all possible). I'm starting to stay away from Amazon for bigger/heaver items for just this reason.
