S.R. Smith 66-209-596S2 Frontier III Replacement Diving Board, 6-Feet, Radiant White

The board itself is fine - wellmade, sturdy, and a great value that I can certainly recommend. It even comes with the hardware installation kit.For us, it was well past time to replace our old diving board and this seemed like the perfect choice. Our only problem is that the old base requires spacers in order for the board to be level - the back of the base where the board would be attached is lower than the fulcrum towards the front. The old bolts were so rusted that we had to saw them off in order to remove the old board from the base, and the old spacers were completely and solidly rusted to those, so the old spacers are totally useless. The base itself is perfectly good and solid, and all we need to reinstall the new board are 2 one-inch spacers to replace the old ones.One of the reviewers from August 2021 described being in a similar situation; however, they stated that they called the manufacturer and were sent new stainless steel spacers at no charge. I called the company, emailed, sent photos, and called back, and after speaking with several sympathetic customer service reps was told that there was nothing they could do for me - they don't send out spacers. In fact, they don't even make them anymore.I scoured the internet looking for spacers but had no luck whatsoever. We have no intention of replacing the perfectly good base for WAY more money than we originally wanted to spend, especially when all we need is a couple of small pieces of what is basically stainless steel tubing. I'm sure we'll be able to figure out some kind of acceptable workaround. But I would warn anyone looking to replace a diving board on a pretty old base to be aware that they might need additional hardware that isn't necessarily included in the installation kit. What should be simple and easy may very well become complicated and difficult.UPDATE: Miracle of miracles! S.R. Smith ended up sending us the spacers we needed to install the board!As I stated earlier, the board itself is well-made, sturdy, and a perfect replacement for our old board, and an especially great buy, since the price is extremely reasonable and even includes the installation hardware. And now that we have the spacers (thank you, Sam Shirley!) we can go ahead and install it - a quick and easy job.I still warn people with old stands to be aware of the spacer problem, but I have amended the rating to 5 stars for 3 reasons: It's a great diving board; once you have all the parts you need, it's an easy install; and I can definitely state that this company - S.R. Smith - has proven that they are customer-oriented and go out of their way to insure that their customers get the best possible service. Three reasons for 5 stars!

Fit exactly on the stand and although not mentioned, the hardware came with it. A solid board and very nice looking.

Being new, board is a bit firmer than the original board, but after 30+ years the S.R. Smith Company makes an excellent product. Ease of installation and fit into replacement base and old deck pins/screws.

The board is great and it fits on our jump stand. The only problem is that it comes with hardware for basic installation, but there is hardware needed between the board and the jump stand that doesn't seem to be available anywhere. We just installed it today, so we really can't say how well it will hold up over time, but we expect it to be as great as the old one!

Easy to install and grandkids love it. They do cost too much, but the cheap one on from a bother supplier was a scam that never came.

Fast shipping from the vendor. Easy to install. SR Smith sent me the 1 inch spacers that i needed as my spring is 20+ years old and not included in the installation hardware kit that came with the diving board.

After a shipping snafu wherein an 8' diving board simply disappeared, Amazon replaced and the item arrived exactly as described. Color is great and blends in nicely with my exposed aggregate decking and adobe color coping. Holes and hardware matched up perfectly with my almost 30 year old S. R. Smith cantilever base. Some sand-colored Rustoleum revived the base and matched the diving board. Now I have a designer look for the cost of a replacement board. Much preferable to a white slash sticking out in the yard like the old diving board did for decades. The board almost disappears into the surroundings. Heads up to diving board owners - my old diving board appeared to be functioning perfectly. However, it had split at the bolt holes and it was only a matter of time before somebody could have been seriously hurt. Inspect your boards top AND bottom at the bolt holes. If there is splitting, it is time to replace. Also, my original bolts were welded together to the nuts with rust. A reciprocating saw with a metal blade made fast work of the problem. New hardware is stainless steel and comes with the board.

This is the second time I've replaced my diving board. The first was with with a fibre-dive which lasted 20 years. The fact that this heavier-duty one came in blue prompted me to upgrade. Well they sent me white anyway. For 200 dollars more you get a really stiff diving board. It's loosing up as it get used, but the fibre-dive definitely had more spring. I expect this one to last longer, but when the last one went 20 years I think I'd rather have more bounce.And since this is the second time I have replaced the board, I can now say that I have had to cut off the bolts both times because they were so rusted. It really seems like hardware used in such a wet environment should be stainless.
