Awesome propane heater
Well, I wasn’t sure being as I was getting this used. I paid 17 bucks for it but the 17 bucks was actually given to me by Amazon so I got a freeand when I got it, I was kind of confused as to how I hook it up, but I figured it out real quick and it works really good. It puts out some heat. Too bad it didn’t come with an igniter.

One of the easiest propane heaters out there!
One of easy heating solutions available. Absolutely love these. Easy to setup and puts out a lot of heat without using a lot of propane.

Surprised how great. Great heat output
I was looking for a way to extend my time out on my patio during the cold Massachusetts months. Anticipating more covid lockdown has me antsy. I spent HOURS researching patio heaters. With Covid and delays from China I couldn’t get my hands in anything decent for less than $1k. All of the ones priced in the 2-400$ range had terrible reviews and customer service nightmares. Then I stumbled on this and figured I give it a try. Well I bought 3 more so we could have a whole outdoor room! It was tricky to start the first time. Directions weren’t good and there is nothing on YouTube. Hold the red button and keep flame on mesh until it catches. It takes a little longer than you’d think. But then it glows red and it gets toasty. It looks intimidating but after the first it’s easy. Three friends have been impressed enough that they also bought some. This is a great find. What I particularly like about it is that it is at seating level so the heat spreads out at the right level instead of being above my head. I wasn’t sure how well it was heating until I got up to go inside. It was then that I realized how cold it had gotten and how well this heater works. Combine this with some electric blankets and we’ll be outside all winter.

It's a great heater for the price
This is the 2nd heater of this brand I've purchased. I've had 2 Remington branded heaters as well. They seem to last 6-7 winters which isn't bad imo. Some things to know:1. If it won't stay lit it's most likely the thermocouple. A you look at the front, it's at the 3 o'clock position. One screw holds it on. Amazon sells them; the price is cheap...buy a couple.2. If you think it won't attach to the tank, you probably shouldn't have one. It's reverse thread...lefty tighty righty loosey. It's in the instructions.3. No heater will keep you warm if you're more than 6 feet away unless you have some sort of partial barrier. A tarp, 3 sided enclosure...something.4. Fuel consumption on a full tanks of propane @4.5gallons. Approximately 40 hours on low, 35 on medium and 30ish on high. How large an area it will heat depends on how airtight the area where it's being used. Obviously you need ventilation to avoid O2 depletion and CO build-up.I worked out of a 12x40 trailer on job sites. There's always a door or window cracked and it will raise the temperature from low 30s to 60 in about an hour. This style heater has been in use for decades but might not be for everyone if reading instructions is challenging.

Overly complicated and flimsy, but works
The whole thing is flimsy and wobbles around at the slightest touch. I think it's strong enough to hold up if you are careful, but watching it bob around every time you touch it doesn't give any confidence. You have to be very gentile when carrying it around while attached to a propane tank. This is pretty annoying for something that is supposed to be a workshop item.It also has a bunch of flimsy wires and small screws that just make the whole thing look cheap and fragile. They could have at least spent a couple of dollars building a cover to protect these parts or, even better, made them slightly stronger. The first time one of these wires catches on something when you are moving it it'll tear right off. Just pushing on the primer button can cause the unit to "bend" out of vertical. Not enough to trip the shut-off switch but enough to notice. Pathetic.Lighting it is frustrating at first and seems unnecessarily complicated. And if you follow the lighting instructions you absolutely will not get this thing lit. The light "hole" has a solid plate of sheet metal above it and will not light the heater from there. I went through a half box of matches and a butane lighter trying. It is also useless since it lights right up, instantly and every time, if you hold a match to the heating element. Yet another feature designed by a corporate lawyer I guess. Seriously, I have no idea why this "hole" is there or why they want you to use it. It just doesn't work. It's also odd that the manual tells you not to place this heater within 3 feet of combustibles but it's OK to sit right next to it holding the primer down for 60 seconds? Since it's 360 degrees there is no way to get away from the heat. It won't burn you, but it gets uncomfortably warm pretty fast. The first time I lit it it ran for 5 minutes then I heard a loud "click" and it shut off. I then couldn't get it to run at all. After nearly sending it back I tried one last time and this time I held the primer button in for 60 seconds, long enough to get a good tan and the whole heater to be glowing red. That worked and it ran on low, medium and high just fine. I think I know what happened. When running on low the heating element does not glow red all the way to the bottom and the thermocouple is located in that area. I suspect that a slight wind blew on it while it was burning on low and the thermocouple shut it off. I didn't have this problem the second time and it probably wouldn't happen on medium or high. Still, it's pretty annoying that this could happen, if that is indeed what happened. If it's not, well I'll probably know soon and have to send it back.It sounds like I hate it but I don't. It does work and puts off a lot of heat. I've only run it for 10 minutes so far but I'm sure it will do what I want, which is heat my shop. But would have killed a tree for them to spend another couple of dollars for some thicker metal and larger wires and screws so it's not so flimsy? And a fitting on the end of the screw on the bracket so it doesn't dig into the propane tank every time you mount it? It's a red-hot heater sitting on top of a propane tank - it'd be nice if it didn't look and feel like a cheap toy.
