Great band. Properly discovering now in 2022
I had the test for echo album when it came out. I liked some songs, not all. I was curious about Rush so bought more CDs in 2022. There is great music here. Somehow I'm totally not getting the current 2022 and recent music and and listening to Rush and Led Zeppelin properly for almost like the first time. Especially because of appreciation for amp sounds and Impulse response technologies, effects, use of legendary keyboards. Instead of liking 70s 80s and even 90s music, just for music, I'm now listening to it as if I'm hearing it for the first time. There is lot more here folks. Or may be you all got it back then and made this music popular and successful, and I'm getting it just now. I've focused on lead guitar so much, that when i tried to play rhythm like these older bands and more rock bands, i couldn't. The pick just flies out of my hands. Challenging and beautiful music, done to perfection in sound and execution. I didn't know why radio commentators used phrases like "timeless classic". I'm beginning to understand.

Craftsmen
What stands out is the great technical playing abilities of these 3 men. Wow. I realize this isn't news to long-time Rush listeners, but this is the first time I've actually purchased their music. I remember when "Working Man" came out and I was impressed. Rocked HARD. Then thru the years I would hear others on FM or thru friends. "Fly By Night". "Closer To The Heart". "The Spirit Of Radio". "Freewill". "Tom Sawyer". The level of prowess just keeps going up and up. That's impressive.

If you're buying this, you don't need a review.
I have two thoughts about Rush.1. They are remarkable in many ways, and I recommend checking a documentary about them. There really is no analogous band that I can think of. The only thing that slightly puts a fly in my ointment is not related to the music. On the whole, the world is enlarged by the existence of RUSH.2. I really don't like this concept of re-issuing albums with all the bells and whistles for a ridiculous price. I have all the good Rush albums in LP or CD (in storage, or I wouldn't have bought this), why should I pay the price of a CD for one song? Why can't they have a single boxed set with their entire oeuvre? This isn't a RUSH only problem, but one that is silly in this world where you can buy stuff ala carte.

Rush: The Spirit of Radio - the spirit of life itself.
We are most impacted by the music we grow up with. If you are a teenager, by this CD now and a copy of "The Virtue of Selfishness" by Ayn Rand. The lyrics will make alot more sense if you read that book.I lost a copy of this CD and bought TWO more to replace it. You should buy an extra copy and store it in a barn for your favorite nephew. (lol)This is serious music, this is real art - it is deep - and it will move your mind your soul and your heart. Thanks Neil, RIP.
