Perfect product for a rodent digging box/substrate
Easy to make up as per the instructions. Use plastic containers to rehydrate and it washes off effortlessly at the end. I used it to fill half of my deep perspex base tray that replaces the storage section in the Savic Royal Suite cage. The rats immediately started digging in it and now have a series of deep chambers and tunnels. Perfect for the job. It's been suggested that it will need replaced after about 4 to 6 weeks, and it took 9 bricks to fill the section, so not cheap, but I filled it to the brim and a lot of it has been kicked out in the digging process which I am saving for the next change. So we'll see... but having seen their digging skills in full use I doubt I will want to remove the enrichment.

Great product!
Easy to store, simple to activate and use, and really great for functionality. Each block expands (with the addition of warm water) to a decent amount.

Very happy snail!
I bought these soil blocks for my giant Africa land snail as specialist snail soil can be quite expensive even before shipping fees. As Tobi (the snail) has quite a big tank I assumed I would need to use a couple of blocks but one provided more than enough soil depth for spring and summer! The brick did take a long time to absorb the water and I needed to use a good three to four liters of water but appart from that it's a really great product. If you have a slimey friend I highly recommend!

Fine Product but…
I initially rated this product as two stars because the first brick did not expand in contact with water. However, the second and third did expand quickly. It was fair to change the review. One star off because there are no instructions in English only German. It is not an issue for me but some UK customers would be annoyed.

A great idea - but be vigilant when preparing
After much research, I decided to try coco coir as opposed to standard garden centre soil for two reasons. The first due to storage issues and the second due to a previous infestation of fungus gnats.Having a huge bag of soil sitting out in the shed seems to attract these annoying bugs and, as a result, a couple of plants have been potted with them unknowingly harbouring in the soil!As well as working on other methods to get rid of the fungus gnats (underwatering, cinnamon, etc) I thought it would be a good idea to reconsider my potting medium.I settled with this product because it just seemed a lot less hassle overall. However, with this I also had to purchase perlite and a liquid fertiliser. The only issue I encountered was making up the coco coir. As someone mentioned on one of the reviews for this, this soil solution comes with no English instructions - but is great if you're fluent in German! For that reason, it was a hit and miss prep. The first brick I think I put too much water in and I had to subsequently drain it. However, by the second, I realised that hot water that is just slightly below the level of the brick does the trick. It's early days yet but if this method works, I will be sticking with it and ordering more in the near future. Fingers crossed!

Perfect
I highly recommend this product. I mix this with compost and potting soil for more effecient nutrients to various plants I use this for. I bounces back to life quickly once exposed to enough water and everytime I use it the plants, trees and food I grow thrive.I've found that if I use coconut soil more than regular soil my plants bounce to a whole new level of growing effiency. It retains water well so I don't have to water as often. Nor does this contain any shreddings of plastic which I very much appreciate. It should be repotted with new soil mix, in my opinion, within 6 to 8 months if you use more coconut soil than regular soil; say 80/20. If you use 50/50 then I would leave it for a year and a half depending on the size of your pots & if your plants roots are too compressed, of course. If you choose not to mix at all and only put this ontop of your soil then I do recommend using grass clippings ontop otherwise it dries out fairly quickly. This is intended for mixing rather than surface from my experience.Overall, I highly recommend this product and can't fault it.

Env. Friendly but Inconvenient
I like that it's so compact and saves on shipping (environmentally friendly!)Double edged sword though, as it's also a bit inconvenient to have to soak a whole massive block when I only needed a bit. I now have to hope it dries out before it rots or damages my plants.Smaller bricks would be preferable.

Very convenient
Great to store these blocks and only expand it when you need it - saves a lot of space. Would be even nicer if they were smaller - for those situations where you need less at the time! My plants have been thriving and for the first time ever I don't have flies - usually whenever I bought compost from different sellers I would always end up with a fly infestation right after using it. Such a relief to have found this!
