I like the book because it covers all foods available in North America. The book counts everything the average North American person needs to know. Excellent book.

One of my favorite things about this book is that it doesn't try too hard. The author only lists a few details on each food–calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, cholesterol, sodium, and fiber–which leaves room for lots of food listings without having to resort to tiny print. This book list all kinds of foods, from basic ingredients like buckwheat flour and parsnips, to national brand prepackaged mixes and frozen entrees, to many chain and fast food restaurant foods, which was more than I expected. I just wanted a book with the basic foods, but the extras are a nice bonus. I keep it on my kitchen counter so I don't have to run to my computer every time I want to figure out the calorie counts of something like eggs. I'm glad I bought it. It was a good deal for the price.
