Every woman who wonders why her marriage is not as satisfying as she'd hope, should read this book. It is so intensely and lovingly constructive that it changes the way you look at all people, and in a good way. cp

Such an awesome resource for young brides
Such an awesome resource for young brides! As a bride-to-be myself, I read this book to prepare for marriage, and I plan on reading it over and over throughout my married life. When two young people who are deeply in love decide to get married, even if they prepare for it as much as possible and think they have everything figured out, they will still make mistakes, and they will still have to figure out how to live with and love one another, even though neither is perfect. As the title suggests, the book gives guidelines for how to let your love for your husband, and those little (or sometimes big) trials in marriage, make you into a better person, the person that God made you to be.Alice von Hildebrand is an incredibly wise woman, and an excellent philosopher in the tradition of her late husband Dietrich. But even if philosophy is not your strong point, don't worry. This book is surprisingly easy to read, and very down-to-earth and practical. If you are a married or engaged woman, and want to pursue holiness within your vocation, do yourself a favor and read "By Love Refined." It will help immensely

Amazing Book
Written in the style of C.S. Lewis' Screwtape Letters, this book is a prayerful and patient journey through a young married couple's first years together. The godmother writing her newly married goddaughter displays an uncommonly kind and constructive understanding of the ups and downs of marriage, and provides short, succinct suggestions which are applicable (I believe) in all relationships. As soon as I read the book I purchased two more for friends. Love it.

Thoughtful and sweet book for a newlywed bride
I received this book originally from a friend as a gift and now I have been gifting it to friends. It is from a Christian perspective and written in the format of letters between confidants about the joys and challenges of marriage. I loved it

A must read for all (esp. catholic/christian) brides!
I love this book! The first year(s) of marriage can be challenging, it's unknown territory. This book has helped me by reminding me to not be so selfish and it really encouraged me to know that I am not the first to go through some of marriages challenges. Also, this book helped keep me mindful of my husbands perspective. I think it helped me be respectful to my husband (even when I didn't want to) and also made me realize that in doing so it really made me happy and feel loved. I highly recommend this book!

Absolutely amazing! MY fiance and I are preparing for marriage ...
Absolutely amazing! MY fiance and I are preparing for marriage and this book was an amazing eye opener. Even though I was reading it on my own (long-distance relationship) I felt emotionally closer to my fiance. Alice has such great advice to young women starting out. I highly recommend for couples wanting a Godly marriage!
