These leashes work very well and are instinctive to use. Had one for years that I used with my old Australian Shepherd that recently passed away last year. It had been chewed on by one of our other dogs, and knotted back together, and still worked but didn't quite retract all the way. Some time has passed and I got a new puppy, and she likes the flexibility this leash gives her. I gave it a 3 stars on 'chew proof' because let's be honest, nothing short of cast iron is chew proof for the needle sharp teeth of a puppy... but those would be too heavy to carry. This one is Sadie approved. (Sorry I didn't have picture of her leashed, but she uses it daily!)

This leash is fantastic! We use it for our 9-month old 55lb Goldendoodle. She pulls with all her might at times. This leash is being tested. It is holding up well though! We have used this leash for 6 weeks Here are some other things to note:1. The color is fantastic - and slightly reflective.2. This is light, small, and yet holds her well. It is easy for me to maneuver in one hand.3. This costs less than our previous 3 retractable leashes. Yet it is sturdier (and so light). Remember, light does not equal poorly built. This seems to be a correlation some reviewers make.4. The line itself is not flat. This is a rope. This is good for a few reasons: 1) It does not get tangled. 2) It is less likely to have difficulty retracting (which is how 2/3 of the more expensive leaches became less desirable). 3) The line being a rope, and therefore smaller, is also less likely to get urinated on if the leash gets between her legs or under her tail.All in all, I can recommend this leash. It holds a rambunctious 55lb dog perfectly. I imagine it would have no difficulty holding a much heavier dog. It is small enough - and the rope small enough - to hold a much smaller dog as well.If you're like me and have been purchasing a lot of leashes to find the perfect one, then perhaps you have found it in this Flexi. It is exactly what I wanted: a strong and small retractable leash.

Just as I said in the title.... It is lightweight and strong. It's easy to attach, lock the cord and release the cord as needed.It's perfect for us and our dog Cookie.

Okay I love this.I bought the small size for my little Yorkie. It's yellow so if I set it down somewhere it is easy to find. It retracts well, reflects well and it has a bite belt. I have a very small dog and so this smaller size retractable leash is perfect. I have had many retractable leashes and I have to say this is the best. It is really made well, and is not heavy. That is a big deal when you are walking a dog who weighs 5 lbs. It seems durable: I have dropped it a couple of times and it has not shattered. The weight of the clasp matches well with the leash itself. I only wish I found this 10 years ago. I am very impressed with the way that it is made. I sometimes like to walk hands free because I do some nature photography. I attached a metal carabiner to it that I can snap to my belt and retract the leash so my dogs is by my side while I snap a couple of pictures. Probably not easy to do with a large or medium dog but easy enough with a small guy like mine. I would recommend this leash to family and friends (and probably perfect strangers)Update: Still works great! Buying a second one so I have another on hand for when this finally breaks. If there is any change in the quality of the new one I will let you know.

Purchased the listed leash at PetCo in Feb 2014 for $32.99. It was about $10 more than the other similar leashes, but had a reflective casing. I wanted that feature and was willing to pay the additional cost. Version I bought at the brick-and-mortar store is sturdy, appears well constructed, and operates as expected.Saw the "same thing" on Amazon for $18.57 and purchased two in Feb 2014. One leash to keep in my car, and one to keep with my mom. The cardboard packaging looks just like the one purchased at PetCo. The model number and the UPC are the SAME on the one I bought at PetCo and the version I bought on Amazon.HOWEVER, the reflective outer casings on the two are very different. The "reflective" casing of the Amazon leash is not nearly of the same "highway grade" (stated as on the package) as the casing on the PetCo one.If you are buying this leash for the "Highway Grade Reflective Sheeting" this was NOT on the leash I bought from Amazon.The "belt" part is also looks different, but it appears that this is just cosmetic and doesn't matter to me.Summary: Both leashes appear well made and the retraction so far is similar. However, the one bought on Amazon does NOT have the same level of Reflective Sheeting on the casing as the SAME model and UPC one I bought at PetCo. If you are looking for a decent retractable leash, the Amazon one is good, but the casing is NOT REFLECTIVE the same way that my other leash with the SAME model number and UPC from a store is.I know there is a significant difference in price and I expect to pay for what I get. I am used to Amazon having really good prices so I wasn't as surprised at the price differential as I might be if I saw it on another website - AND the model numbers and UPC is the SAME but the product is DIFFERENT.The leashes I bought on Amazon themselves are okay for the cost, but NOT as advertised and I feel I received less than described.UPDATE: UPGRADING to 4 Stars. Would be 5 but I still feel a bit deceived. These 2 bought on Amazon are holding up just as well as the one I purchased at PetCo and I literally toss them (lightly - but still) when I come in the house. They all have been dropped and abused. I use all three leashes OFTEN and interchangeably. I think if I had to walk on a dark road I would favor the PetCo one though.

The Flexi leash brand is a wonderful product! They are made in Germany and this is our second leash. Our first one lasted 20 years until our new dog managed to chew through the flat cord when I wasn't looking. The new leash is a definite upgrade in that it is extremely visible and reflective both day and night. It unwinds and retracts quickly and without excess pulling on the dogs collar. Also, the breaking system is very effective and easy to use. I just love this new leash and this brand. I highly recommend this product.

I would buy the ribbon line like my other larger dog has (same brand), the thin cord is not as good.

We have had a flexi brand leash for years that has lasted for a few of our dogs and lots of use. When it wasn't working properly anymore we decided to get another one so went to the local pet store. They didn't have Flexi brand so we purchased one we thought looked the same and paid more than we thought it would be. The other brand was not even close to the Flexi so we took it back and ordered the Flexi brand. It is awesome! It is very well made and we like the reflective feature. The one-hand braking and recoil feature is what was missing on the other brand. This safety feature is a must when you are out walking and need to react quickly and is what puts this brand above all others. Highly recommend this product.
