Not worth the price! They are much better options out there....
My husband has both the Q2n 4k and Q2n earlier model, both the model lack in many aspects, namely battery back up and the format how it saves the video and the extensions. For starters my husband is an artist manager and he travels with the bands he manages, it become cumbersome every time using a AA battery when ever its used to record in 4K, the battery doesn't last much no matter which alkaline battery one uses. Well, Zoom has the option of adding additional battery pack but that's utter crap. Simply because its like we back in the 70's or 80's when SLR camera flash came with 4 - AA battery slots this comes with a similar lousy plastic battery housing which is worse than old school, to be honest its primitive, for starters once your using the battery pack you need to plug it in in the camera USB slot.If your somebody who does lot of live broadcasting using the Zoom extended battery will make it next to difficult using the battery and connecting it to your laptop to live stream it, as to do that one would need to use a USB cable to connect to their laptop and make the Q2n 4K in webcam mode to broadcast you can do it simultaneously. The HDMI out doesn't support webcam mode which is bummer. Then theirs the way the how the video is saved in the SD card, it can get very confusing, if your recording a session of 1hour live performance show, the 60mins of video is saved in bits of 17mins each (17mins x 3differnt tracks.) What makes it worst is, if your recordings are saved with similar numbers making it very had to figure out which of the video is the beginning the the middle and the end until and unless you watch all the video and rename them it can become a whole new category of figuring out the entire performance, and then the songs has to be stitched with video editing software's.The audio quality is fantastic, but if you can live with the above listed of drawbacks then its good but, for the same price you can get better options.1. Mevo+ Camera that offers multi-frame video recording more FOV than Zoom Q2n the Plus model comes with a battery pack that can be fixed easily and gives you 6hrs of 4k recording and 8hrs of 1080p recording, the extension comes with option of adding a external mic of your choice, can be placed on any tripod, its easy to use, offer the option to multi focus on the subject you need AF on and the camera will follow the subject, just like a professional camera you can zoom in and out in difference scenes with the app for iOS & Android.2. Sony HDR-MV1 the device is quite old and may be discontinued in a few countries but if you can get your hands on one of these even in the second hand market it would be a sweet product. The device is down-right straight forward its got a side mounted larger LCD touch screen on the side in comparison to the Z Q2n 4k offers a smaller screen with no touch control and WifI. The Sony has a better video quality over the Zoom Q2n 4k though the Sony HDR-MV1 is a 1080p recording version, having auto-focus helps. What it makes for in video quality the Sony falls short in the sound quality dept with its x y microphones though placed in the front, its not as crisp and deep (when you compare it to the zoom devices) but no worries, the camera lets the user to fix an external microphone via 3.5mm jack.3. MeVo Go: Another option but it doesnt offer the same versatility that the Mevo+ offers in terms of battery life. What it lack is battery it makes up in every other way its a notch above with FOV and software and speed.4. Zoom Q8: Is any day a better buy if you can shell out the extra cash, offers musicians the option to add an 2XLR cables you can swap the existing X Y microphones with any other microphone of your choice, has a flip out touch screen and the battery pack options are numerous. (It can be heavy on the pocket but, if you can find a well maintained cam in the secondhand market just go for it.)4. Sony HDR-AS300 Action Cam with Wi-Fi

For the price, 5 stars
I can't believe the gripes some people have with a vidcam at this price point. The cam is *small* so naturally the LCD viewscreen will be small, duh. And the user interface, buttons, etc will all be small because the unit itself is very small and compact. If you're looking for something BIG, buy something else. For the money, this is a 5 star product. Very easy to use, excellent video quality, and excellent audio quality. 2 small gripes that I won't even dock any stars over: battery life is not very good but I planned on using it with an external power supply anyway, so that's not an issue for me. The 2nd gripe is this strange thing of breaking large video files into chunks. In other words, if you record a very long video, you end up with several short video files that you would append to each other in the editing process. Don't know what that's all about but it doesn't affect me either so I still rate the product 5 stars. I use it to record my band. We play loud so the manual audio gain adjustment keeps the audio/mic from clipping/distorting. I guess they've got a new model out with higher resolution video but I don't need anything higher that what this model gives. The newer model has the same audio resolution from what I understand so upgrading to the newer model wouldn't do anything for me.

Works well with only minor caveats. Great value for the price.
I've been using my unit for nearly a week now, and I have to say, I took to it like a duck to water!I was super impressed with my friend's ability to make and upload high quality videos with great ease on her iPhone, and looked in despair at my old gear, which made the process anything but easy. The technology has improved a lot since my old Canon handheld video camera came out, but I wasn't interested in owning an $800 phone. -To start with, I'm not a cell phone guy, refuse to carry one, and the suggestion that I get a phone but only use it for taking videos... Ugh. It was too overwhelming a field and I didn't really know where to start. So instead I decided to look at what was available in dedicated video equipment, and a musician recommended this device to me. The sound is top, top notch. (Zoom, after all, eh? I already own their famous H4 digital recorder). And, it turns out, the lens and video quality are right up there with the best, even for a device which is a couple of years old now. I looked at some comparison videos testing this unit against previous Zoom models, and the video quality is noticeably superior. The interface is easy enough to figure out and work with, the USB upload feature works flawlessly; I plug it into a Windows 10 computer, select "SD Card transfer" and suddenly a new drive appears on the Windows explorer. The download speeds aren't fantastic, but fast enough. It takes five or ten seconds to move a 50 Mb video clip to my hard drive.I've already used it to shoot a couple of short YouTube bits, and there were no problems at all under regular room lighting conditions. The clips look fine. The only two caveats are that it is definitely designed with music in mind; so the mics sensibly favor the sound scape in front of the lens, and not behind it. For my purposes, using it as a handheld device, when I turn the camera to shoot something while talking with me behind it, the volume of my voice drops by about half. This is a feature, not a bug if you are trying to record a music set, but it's something to be aware of if you're using it in another capacity. To mitigate, you just hold yourself closer to the camera when speaking, and that solves things. The other issue is one which has been pointed out already. The battery life is short. -That's where using a camera phone would offer an advantage. So far, the alkaline batteries it came with have held up through about 45 minutes of up-time, and read at around 50% now. That's pretty good.I picked up for another project one of those laptop power banks (capable of powering a whole laptop for 5-10 hours). It provides USB power through a standard cable and works with the Zoom unit, so if I find myself in a situation where I'm away from my computer and need hours and hours of power, I'll just use that.Regarding the power situation:I consider the power solution for this unit a well designed, well-considered achievement! -USB power means that it doesn't need a regular power plug. I think that's great! The fewer "Wall Warts" in my life, the better, it's one less thing I have to keep track of. You can power it from a laptop or standard phone charger. The unit by itself is all you need when you're packing up to go. I also really appreciate that it takes AA's for on-board power. This means yet another weird, proprietary object that I DON'T have to keep track of.The one drawback with AA's is that they don't hold as much power as a cellphone lithium battery, (though when lithium AA's start becoming available, we can expect to see increased up-times with units like this). -And while an hour and ten minutes on fresh batteries is not an ideal amount of recording time if you're at a show, for studio sessions, it simply means bringing your laptop to the session and plugging into that. Using your laptop as an external power source works and has benefits. All that aside, it would be nice to see double the up-time on a pair of AA's but I can understand the difficulties the engineers must have faced with the materials available. I would also prefer to see the USB cable input flush along the side so that it didn't provide a flex point which might cause future damage over time, but that's a minor detail. So considering the price point, the excellent video quality and the pro-level mic (which you'd pay this much for by itself normally!) I give this device a 4/5.It would be a 5/5 if a phone camera didn't completely beat it in the battery life department.
