Yes. We use these for an office kitchen and they withstand microwaving soup, etc. (as well as allowing liquids to sit for hours in the bowls) without leaking.

has anyone tried these for paints and paint mixing? will they hold watery paint for 4-5 hrs?

These bowls are sturdy and don't collapse when filled with cereal and milk. However, 4-5 hours might be a little too long to hold water without them sagging a bit. Maybe, I can try an experiment with them today and let you know later.
