Does anyone own this lens and the EF 85mm f/1.2L II? What can you say? I'm leaning toward the later but am somewhat torn between the two.

The Canon 85 L II is too sluggish and has a fair share of purple and green fringing. Great colors and when nailing a shot its great. The Sigma is sharp at 1.4 and is faster.

Is this a us lens or grey market?

Digital Goja is an official Sigma retailer, and this would come with the manufacturers warranty. Most other sellers on Amazon are selling grey market for this lens which has no manufacturers warranty and is only warrantied by the retailer.

How are there 10 reviews when amazon says item has not been released?

I have used this lens for a month and my review is true to my experience. It part of the Amazon reveiws. I have also added pictures comparing the Sigma to the Nikon 85mm 1.4D (Old Nikon, cheaper by $600). I don't see a huge difference so why buy a huge, heavy and expensive lens.I use a Nikon D7200 so I will compare with the Nikon 85mm lens. Not so sure about the Canon.While I love the lens build quality and the feel for the manual focus ring, I am very unhappy about the following issues that I faced:1. The lens came in with a severe front focus issues. Even with +18 - +20 AF in certain cases. I used the sigma dock to adjust the sharpness but somewhere I lost confidence in the Sigma quality assurance process. 2. After using the lens for a few days, i started seeing the front focus issue show up again. I recalibrated the lens but the entire process was so frustrating. It took me hours of effort to fix the AF on this sigma which is expected to be done from the manufacturer for such an expensive lens. Again, i lost confidence because the AF just keeps showing errors.3. The lens by itself is very heavy...cannot really compare with the Nikon 85mm at all. While it was okay with me to carry it around, my wife hated carrying this lens. I got done carrying it around after a few days and came back my Nikon 85mm just for portability reasons.4. The glass ring is 86mm. You will have to buy new filters if you want to protect your lens.When I tested the pictures that this sigma took and compared it to the Nikon OLD 85mm 1.4d, Agreed that the pictures from this sigma (once you set the sharpness right :)), the Bokeh and the color contrast are just amazing....however comparing it to the OLD Nikon i did not see a huge difference in the pictures. This sigma glass is going back...i'll stick to my Nikkor 85mm 1.4d for now. The Nikkor 85mm 1.4D is far less expensive that this Sigma.My recommendation will be to go for this SIGMA glass only after you check it out at a local store. Be cognizant of the points I have listed above.
