I really knew nothing about them until I decided to purchase my two year old a couple. I gave them to her for Christmas and she really took to them. We both really enjoy reading them together and have both learned so many name of superheroes and what their powers are. But what I love most about these books, is that its not really all about the superhero, they teach lessons, and they teach things like colors, shapes, words, counting, and body parts. They really are wonderful books - I let my daughter choose one of these books every night and we read together at bed time. My toddler and I started collecting all of them and we both get really excited when they arrive in the mail. My daughter started to think that the mail man was just giving them to us as gifts, as if I didn't have to buy them lol. We have collected every one and they are releasing another one next week which we have already pre ordered and are super excited about. The books are a great price and arrive quickly. I hope they continue to make these books because we really love collecting them and enjoy reading them. She is even starting to remember the words and "reads" along with me! Review: Colorful pictures + Positive message= Awesome children's book - I purchased this book for my soon to be one year old daughter. I am a big fan of DC's superheroes, especially Wonder Woman, so I thought this would be a good way to share my interest with my daughter and introduce her to the world of superheroes. This is a board book. It has nice, colorful illustrations of each heroine. It is a short book, perfect for the attention span of a toddler. Featured in the book are Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Supergirl, Black Canary, Bumblebee, Raven, Katana, and Hawkgirl. Each one has a brief description of what makes them a great hero. Some of my favorite characters show up in this book. They are depicted in their classic looks. What really makes the book great is that it says nothing about the way they look. It focuses solely on their abilities and how they use them to help others. My daughter is a little young, yet, to be able to enjoy the message but I can tell she likes the colors and feel of the book. She likes to turn the pages back and forth and will sit with it for several minutes at a time.

Great as a "First Book"
We really enjoyed this book. I've read the more critical reviews and the points are well taken. It's not the best that it could have been but it is pretty great for toddler level and head and shoulders above some of the other books pushed on little girls at this age. Although the book is not all inclusive of all the female heroes that inhabit the comic universe, it does touch on the ones that they are most likely to encounter in mainstream pop culture. The same criticism could probably be leveled at many of the superhero books aimed at boys as well. As it says, it is the "first book" of girl power, and it does just that - serves as a solid introduction to the fact that females are heroes also. It is a great stepping stone that opens the door to a conversation about the wide and wonderful world of mighty girls. Embellish to suit your own child and tastes.

The gift is for parents who like superhero comics and are having a girl
I read both the positive and negative reviews before ordering this as a gift for a new baby. The gift is for parents who like superhero comics and are having a girl. I thought this would be a great book for them to introduce their baby girl to one of their favorite hobbies. It is simple--as it should be. It is for babies who are being read to. There are positive words and the pictures are true to DC comic book style. I am disappointed that one of the characters is not colored, as shown in the preview pictures. The bumblebee character must be from another DC board book. Otherwise, I think the book is fun and colorful. Perfect for the first baby girl in the family!

Cute book
Book is in good condition and is cute. It is a young children’s book so it’s very simple, but it’s a cute idea for someone who will have a little lady.

Six Stars!
I finally broke down and bought a fourth copy of this book (mention of previous three below) and was surprised and delighted to find D.C. Comics listened to its consumers and added two pages of minority characters. My daughter pointed at the Asian character and said "Super Me!" and she wants an action figure of the African American character. This is my new go-to baby shower gift! Original Review: This has been one of my daughter's favorite books since she was 3 months old. I would have given it five stars but for two reasons: lack of diversity and poor binding. The messaging in this book is positive, clear, and simple but would be greatly improved by including minority heroes. Also, Over the course of nine months the binding has come apart on two copies of this book. Update: our third copy of this book in under a year now has duct tape holding the spine together.

Daughter loves it!
Got it for my 8-month-old daughter and she loves it. The bright colors and short story are perfect to hold her attention, and it's become the first book she grabs now. Also, it has a great message for little girls. I would highly recommend for girls of all ages. I was really excited when I found this book and how they offer more around "girl power."

She wants this read to her every night
I bought this as a gift for my friends daughter. Her daughter loves this book and wants it read to her every night. It's fun, empowering, and easy to read. Your daughter or son will love it.

The book has poor content. And there was some red liquid all over the cover and pages. It looked like paan spit. I had to sanitise it thoroughly. Not worth the money at all. Product quality and condition both were terrible and much, much below expectations.

This book has quickly become one of our 3 year olds favourites after mummy wanted some stronger role models to diffuse the messages of Princesses such as Belle and Cinderella. The universally known DC characters of Wonder Woman, Batgirl and Supergirl are alongside others such as Hawkgirl with a simple double spread on each character about staying who they are, what their powers are and how that makes them a good friend or great role model such as Batgirl loving to read. The book begins and ends with double spreads showing the female characters together and emphasising how great girls are and how powerful they can be and how they can be even more powerful when they help each other and work together. This is a great message for girls as it focuses on the girls and their strengths not as sidekicks to male superheroes, or interests in boys or romances and if these characters spoke it would definitely pass the Bechdel test as opposed to the princessey books that usually refer to being saved by or being romantically linked to a prince of some kind. My daughter has just got into watching some DC cartoons and these are recognisable characters in their classic comic/graphic novel depictions as opposed to their film, television, cartoon or LEGO representations which makes it enjoyable for DC fans or a little collectable of female superheroes. This book is beloved by my daughter and has encouraged her to look for similar type books including the DC superfriends series which show cooperation and positive female role models (alongside boys too) without focusing on romances and being pretty, I just wish I'd found this series earlier!

Our daughter is only 15 month, but loves the bold colours. I hope we will enjoy it for anlong time. And am already looking at the other books of this line, hoping the heroines also show up next to their male counterparts. As somebody said, it is true, that the heroines all have the classic barbie body with tight and or short outfits, but then Batman and Superman might not show as much skin but, I guess, being super fit kind of forms a body like those?
