I use this on just about everything. Have not put it in a BBQ sauce but I don't see why not. Just be careful as this is very spicy, I use just a sprinkle or two.

Can this product be safely used to booby trap food items as a deterrent to food thieves?

I bought it to put in bird seed to deter the squirrels. It had no effect on our squirrels whatsoever. I make seed cakes for the birds and I kept adding more and more ghost pepper, but it didn't faze the squirrels at all.

anyone use this as a rabbit repellent ?

No. Did use for helping dogs to stop digging and it worked wonders, no more digging.
