Turkey Tail did not colonize in brown rice, UB tek. Edit Corrected substrate to hardwood pellets, and got fruits. Seller provided replacement and good advice

I really appreciated that this culture arrived quickly compared to the estimated shipping time. I put it in the fridge as soon as it arrived, as I wasn't quite ready to inoculate my grain spawn that day. Waited til the weekend and got my supplies set up, pulled out the syringe of culture and fully expected to have to shake it like mad (like all the video tutorials say you'll have to do) but the mycelium was already very well dispersed in the culturing solution. I still shook it a bit just for GP's but it looks very healthy in the syringe and I'm very excited to see my grain spawn start to culture with mycelium!

I’ll start off by saying I’m a novice mushroom cultivator. This is my first liquid culture, in fact. I have also grown mushrooms from spores. I injected this solution into some bags of Uncle Ben’s Ready Rice, which is a cheap, easily-accessible, sterile substrate. The mycelial culture quickly colonized the bags and subsequent coco coir substrate. It took about two weeks to colonize the coconut fibers and start pinning. Once pinning began, it was about five days before the tiny pins pictured turned into the big mushrooms. Unfortunately, I used a monotub setup to grow these, and blue oysters supposedly need a lot more fresh air than they were given. They are better suited to growing out of a fruiting bucket. Although my first flush was a failure, I isolated a core sample of the biggest fruit and added it to an agar plate so I can try again. I would recommend this liquid culture to anyone looking to grow gourmet mushrooms!

Purchased the Blue Oyster Liquid culture to experiment with homemade agar recipe. Inoculated several plates with a few ccs of culture. Visible mycelium growth within a few days and full plate coverage in less than 2 weeks. I have done several transfers to new agar plates with success. Inoculated several grain jars (popcorn) and had full jar coverage in 2 weeks. Plan to do full grow out on aspen shavings in a week or 2 and will update the results. Happy with the results and would recommend the seller. Update 5/27/2023 - Well it took a while, but I finally got some Oyster mushrooms. This has been a fun and cheap project. I have many grain jars and agar plates from a couple of cc's of liquid culture.

These are quality liquid cultures. I’ve ordered the shiitake and lions mane. This is for the lions mane. When I received mine they were full of thick healthy spores. I inoculated several rye grain jars and they grew very fast. Shake your jars in between colonization. Once fully colonized they even started trying to fruit in the jar (keep lions mane in the dark- light is a trigger for pinning). I was able to transfer some grain spawn to an oak filled bucket and made grain to grain transfers with other jars. The photo is a pic of my second gen grain to grain. Wish I got a pic of the syringe but I c didn’t. Can tell you it was choked full of spores- no contaminants and they were alive! It arrived quickly. I wouldn’t hesitate to order syringes from Root Farms again.
