Jacob's Ladder: With over 100 Photographs from the Film and Including an Appendix of Deleted Scenes (Applause Screenplay Series)

This is a screenplay, not a novel - and that's perfect for my use, it follows the film exactly. There are tons of photos, good quality black and white images although this is not trade paperback quality paper (i.e. it is not glossy stock). Well worth the money, especially if you love the film as I do.

Fantastic extensive breakdown of the collaborative process of screenwriting. I'd say is a must have for anyone interested in the collaborative screenwriting process.

If you're a fan of the film, this little 'script book' is fascinating: it presents the final shooting script for the movie, which includes about 30 minute's worth of material that were filmed, but cut from the theatrical cut. That's quite a lot of material! Some of that is just little trims and lines cut here and there, but also includes entire scenes (for instance, did you know there was a whole sequence where Jacob's breaks into the US Army HQ, douses it with petrol and sets fire to it, whilst a crowd of onlookers and news crews surround him?). And then, there's a whole further set of scenes that were cut from the script before it was ever filmed. Rich stuff!
