Very cool kayak
Very cool kayak. We took it out on our first fishing trip. Very sturdy and is easy to stand up in. The pedal system is a life saver. I hope they come out with some more accessories like rail systems so you can attach other equipment like a fish finder or go pro, flag and or lights. Very satisfied overall. Love it and can’t wait to get back out there.

Certainly poor quality
The kayak was certainly poor quality. It leaked badly and the pedal broke off when we had only had it out twice. It had been advertised as being super solid. When we tried to return it, we were told that the cost of sending it back was on us for $1000.00. What a disappointment.

So Far Not So Good
The media could not be loaded. So far I am disappointed by the quality of the kayak. The hull and seats are very nice. The pedal drives and paddles not so much. The paddles are very cheap. My model kayak is a tandem with two seats and pedal drives. One of the pedal drives was manufactured incorrectly such that you need to "pedal backwards" in order to go forward. In addition, both pedal drives exhibit a very loud clanking sound when pedaling faster than a slow walk (see video). Finally, the kayak is VERY heavy and wide. I understand that this is technically a "fishing kayak" and designed to stand on, but given the width, it is almost impossible to effectively paddle the kayak unless your paddles are placed vertically into the water.I've opened a support ticket with BKC to see if I can get the pedal drive issue corrected. Depending upon the quality of the support I get I will update my review accordingly. Support claims a 24-48 hour turnaround time. It's been about 72 hours and I'm still waiting for some sort of response. If I cannot get satisfaction I will be returning the kayak to Amazon.Update:After not getting a response from BKC I started calling them again. Finally I go a support specialist who was very nice and agreed that the pedal drives were defective and has initiated the process of shipping me new drives. The process is that they are shipping new drives with a return label for the defective drives. The specialist indicated that there is a steel reinforced nylon belt in the drive. The belt has nylon teeth. The belt connects the pedal gear to the drive gear (think a bicycle chain). When you put pressure on the pedals (i.e. pedal fast) the belt "skips" over the gear creating the clanking sound. I am very concerned that this problem will not be addressed by the new drives given this design. I am also concerned that over time, the skipping of the belt on the gear will wear the drive belt to eventual failure. Will update once I get the new drives.UPDATESo I waited almost a month with numerous calls to BKC support. They finally told me that the "warehouse" had some unidentified shipping issues with certain orders and that my order would be shipped out in the next couple of days. Low and behold I got my order... sort of. The order was for 2 replacement pedal drives. The paperwork said 2 replacement pedal drives. The support staff said 2 replacement pedal drives. I got 1 replacement pedal drive. So now I need to get back on the phone and listen to very annoying seagull background audio while I try to get BKC to once again get my order right. Not a good experience so far for a $2.2K purchase.

very heavy
The Good: Very stable, sturdy, tracks great, very comfortable adjustable seats, pedal drive works well, great load capacity. The Bad: Very heavy, difficult to lift above the head to place on roof rack, will require two people. Difficult to steer with the undersized rudder (at least in making sharp turns). Delivery was two weeks later than anticipated. Propeller blade was broken off with first use, and while I was advised that it would be replaced under warranty, the replacement part has yet to arrive. I hope that getting other replacement parts does not take as long...

This Kayak is wonderful! It is a little heavy to move around but extremely stable in the water. The pedal drives and rudder work
The kayak is great! The real deal here is the customer service provided by J Miles Company. We had a defective pedal drive and when we notified them they not only offered to replace both drives with upgraded units and at no charge to us. Now that's first class service.

This is the worst purchase I e ever purchased on Amazon and I’ve made some soozies
Me and my son wanted to get out fishing on a fishing kayak.THIS IS NOT IT!This is a recreational kayak that they drilled and mounted 3 rod holders in 2 of which you can’t use if it’s just you on the water. Ie.. as the crappy rudder control is in the back seat (which only has 1 rod holder)There’s no room in the kayak with the pedal drive(s)Which I could do without since the back one was waterlogged after the first time out, and I had to drain all the water out, about 2-3 gallons in the drive system. One of the mounts that holds the pedal drive system in has broken. (Now this kayak has been on the water a total of 3 yes 3 times)And the front keel has almost rubbed through. We don’t beach that kayak, we get out and walk it on shore, there’s no room to put a tackle box anywhere, it was the most expensive one there was so we thought we were getting a good FISHING kayak. There’s no Gear tracks anywhere, no where to mount anything since the rod holders flip right in your face when you land a fish.Dumb design. There is 3 dry storages 2 underneath the seats that you have to take the seats up and almost out to get in or out of them, difficult to do when you are on the water, and the front storage you have to “shimmy” up to the front of the kayak and straddle legs over each side to get anything in or out again, when you are on the water so hopefully you don’t need anything from any of the dry storages when you are on the water.Again, this is NOT a fishing kayak. It is extremely heavy so we have had to launch it from the boat dock because of the weight, which is kinda dumb if you ask me, it’s very poorly built, there’s no way to hold the paddles like every other kayak has, except the 14’ brooklyn kayak which does not have any kind of paddle holders.Dumb.So you have to break down the paddles into 2 pieces and maneuver them under your seat so getting them out is a bit of a chore since the pedal drives catches all the sea weed and you have to paddle out of it until you can use the pedal drive again. The pedal drives don’t line up and hit on the cheap plastic covers that the drives sit down in.Again, they could not have installed and uni tracks for rod holders? It’s not very intuitive and should not be advertised as a fishing kayak.I should have just ordered 2 of the 10-11 foot non pedal types that are more (hopefully) fishing intuitive, but I’m not sure they would be any better. So now that they want me to pay $1,000 to have it sent back since it’s leaking water, and the pedal drive it broken, is also leaking water into the pedal drive and water logging it, just and to look at the keel from rubbing all the way through just to “possibly” have it fixed, no way. It’s not even what was advertised. Now I have a 14’ kayak that even if everything worked as advertised still is not at all what me and my sons are looking for to go fishing in a kayak. So if anyone is thinking of spending a premium on one of these kayaks. Buyer be ware.I’d be happy to sell you mine which has been in the water a total of 3 times for a very much discounted price because I will not be spending another $1,000 to ship it back after spending $2,500 for a new “fishing” kayak.Very, very disappointed in the purchase and after care. This was bought by my parents for the grandson and myself. If you want to know the quality of these kayaks, I can send pics and videos since Amazon and Brooklyn don’t seem to want to do the right thing.Thank you [email protected]

Fun on the water.
It is a great kayak. We are using for exercise and fishing. I wish it were a bit lighter.
