I grew up in a ferrocement house and still learned something from this book.
I wasn't expecting much from a 40+ year old book on ferrocement, however the author expertly introduces you to the unique properties of ferrocement construction and it possibilities. The book is actually still very relevant seeing how we still have no national or international standards for ferrocement construction. Now more then ever with shortages of good concrete sand in many countries we need to rethink how we use our resources and Ferrocement and it's unique thin yet durable shell might have a part yet to play. In my opinion builders, architect's and engineers need to revisit the possibility of ferrocement construction as we look forward to a future of higher material costs and demand.

Lucky Me!
Lucky Me, I finally got a copy of this book. I waited about a year before a used one came up on here. This is one of the few books on Ferrocement construction. You buy it for the pictures, and ideas, not for technical reasons. There are better books for that.

abercrombie's - Ferrocement: Building with cement,sand & wire mesh
The book should've been co- written by a hands-on ferrocement savvy person & contained at least 2 step-by-step ferrocement projects fm beginning to end.A seasoned d.i.y.person could get something done relying on the book alone,but a first time wannabe ferrocement builder would struggle.What Mr Abercrombie basically did was take excerpts out of other ferrocement books & "plaster" them onto his own book. I guess that's what happens when an Interior Decorator writes about a subject he's vaguely familiar with.The best part of the book is the bibliography where the "real" ferrocement books are listed.Heck,his own attempt at a simple ferrocement project was a dismal failure as he surprisingly shows us.{see pgs 123-125}
