Seems well built, however....
Arrived quickly. Seems to be well built.AFTER receiving this item I went back and READ FULLY the description and ratings.POWER RATING IS ONLY 50 WATTS!POWER RATING IS ONLY 50 WATTS!I didn't catch this spec. initially and glad I re- read it.My application was to be for 160 meter full wave loop that would have had as much as 1200 watts on it!This will cook immediately in that use. That explains the huge price difference between this product and Polyphaser for instance.I will probably keep it for use with vhf/ uhf equipment as vendor/ manufacturer clearly stated power rating in advertisement. As for the clown that reviewed and called this product junk because it blew up with an amplifier... duh... idiot.Perhaps the power level should be specified in the first line or two of ad.It may be possible to damage some equipment if used in mis-application.I'm sure it would cut their product returns significantly

Inexpensive but good quality. 50w max
These fit the bill. Put two of them on to protect a Diamond 50XA and a tram. Wattage was sufficient for my needs. Cary the frequency and specs for a reasonable price. Solid and well built. Does great for my trip band at 25 watts and 2 watts respectively. Would upgrade if I was at or near 50 watts.

Great, economical method to add lightening protection to permanently mounted ham antenna
Fortunately , I have yet to test its effectiveness--electrical storms in my locale (east Puget Sound in WA state), but I placed two of these on my attic mounted ham antennas, just to be on the safe side.

Arrived with missing parts
Quality of the lightning arrestor looks OK. Screw and lug to connect the ground wire was not included. Fortunately, I had a 4mm screw in my misc parts. I wouldn't have used the wire lug shown in the photo anyway.

Does its job
Have had my Hygain AV640 in my yard for several years now, this is the 2nd one I have replaced due to a very nearby lightning strike. It instantly grounded out and saved my equipment from damage

Lightning Struck….it works.
I bought this a year ago and have been running a 30 watt GMRS repeater with it. I was advised to ground the antenna which was about 30 feet in the air on an OE-254 mast. Anyway, the 16ft Comet base antenna was struck by lightning. It exploded like a piece of bamboo, but this $17 lightning arrestor saved my repeater from any damage at all. As a matter of fact, the repeater was still operating at degraded capacity despite 90% of the antenna gone. I’m a believer, I will not set up an antenna again without one.
