Review: Far and away the best book on the Bismarck - I knew what to expect from this book as I have the author’s book on the Scharnhorst, but take this book on its own. It is beautiful, a work of pure genius. Stefan Draminski has a deep knowledge of this ship based on years of study and the book’s content is largely based on a detailed 3d computer model he has made of the vessel which has generated the 660 scale drawings and 400 colour 3d views in the book. And it is not just one model; he has detailed views at different times in the Bismarck’s short life! I love the parts going below decks to show the internal layout. As the author remarked, by the time he finished he knew his way around the decks of the Bismarck better than his own neighbourhood. The technical and historical sections are well researched and well written. The photos are beautifully reproduced. That brings me to the book production. Of course a lot of the ship views are across two pages, but sufficient margin has been left that nothing has disappeared down the gutter. Nothing is lost. On one side this book is an excellent historical and technical reference and in particular it would be invaluable to anyone thinking of making a model of this ship, or some one who is interested in how such a behemoth of naval engineering was put together. On the other it is quite simply a beautiful book, a work of art. This should be on the shelf of anyone with an interest in the Bismarck or warships in general. The Scharnhorst one is just as good and equally recommended. Review: Excellent! - Fantastic book, well written, well printed and well illustrated. Worth every penny of my money and a delight to read and look at. Loads of information, loads of great pictures and 3D drawings, perfect model making referrence.

Superbly detailed
I bought this as a photoreference work for a Bismarck kit I a have just started building hoping that it would give me enough detial to produce a realistic model. I was blown away by the quality and detail of the drawings and 3D rendered images and am confident that it will help me produce something of vasly superior quality that I would have acheived without it. Even if you are not a model maker but just have hankering for the inner detail of the Bismark, it certainly wont disappoint.

Not much to read but an awful lot to look at
This is an exceptional piece of work, targeted to a specific audience, that of the model makers. It offers exceptional quality renderings of the ship in all the exterior arrangements (and also some detailed internal arrangements of compartments). This book is not an interesting read for someone that actually wants to read a 200+ pages book. Not much to read in here. But for a modeler, it is a great resource answering almost all of the questions one might have about the looks and armaments on the ship. It also raises the bar a lot for what would be a realistic build, making things hard to build something that looks as stunning as the 3D renders. One thing I would like to have been included with this book would be a link or otherwise to a system where one can actually inspect the 3D model that Stefan has built, and look at some details from different angles. The author has posted a 3D view of the model on YouTube showing a view from front to back but while being better than nothing, it's somewhat limited.

Outstanding
50 or so pages of description and history of the ship followed by 270 or so pages with hundreds of scale line drawings and remarkably detailed 3D renders. An incredible amount of research and many hours of work have gone into the illustrations in this book - it's clearly been a serious labour of love. An absolute must for anybody working on a model of this mighty ship. The only criticism I could offer is that it'd have been nice to have some additional description text along with the incredible 3D illustrations.

Bismarck
Perfect reference book. Great for information and very useful for the modellers out there. Loads of scaled drawings to reference on in particular 1/200 scale.

Awesome book but good luck getting one delivered intact!
Stunning and fascinating book for those who like obsessive detail. The illustrations are amazing and the supporting text helpfully detailed and sufficient to clearly understand the drawings. Would be an awesome reference for an artist or modeller. I was losing faith as I had to order 3 before I got this book in perfect, new condition. The previous 2 were damaged by a combination of woeful packaging and careless handling, so they went back....what a waste.

The ultimate Bismark reference book
I purchased this book as a reference to assist in building a 1/200 scale model of the Bismark. Little did I realise what a masterpiece this book is. The line drawings are fantastic, but it is the 3D illustrations that make this book outstanding. The book also covers the history of the ship, it’s crew compliment, and details of the discovery of the wreck. It is one of the best book I now have in my library.
