For the well versed, this fluidity between two arcane disciplines generates great insights--not to mention a communication shortcut to doubled esoteric treasures. But what if you're new to Tarot? Or, what if you're familiar with the cards, but you've learned them on your own terms or from someone who doesn't use astrological correlations in card interpretations, nor in their metaphysical practice or teachings? Not only can the mere mention of Astrology in conjunction with Tarot cause fledging (and intermediate!) However, Astrology brings its own rich storehouse of symbolism and archetypes, which means by becoming familiar with the secret of the stars, if you feel drawn to do so, you can only expand your cache of associations and, arguably, become a more knowledgeable, skilled tarot reader. And this is where Corrine Kenner's new book Tarot and Astrology comes in. I don't know how she managed it, but she not only gives Tarot readers a solid introduction to Astrology, but also explains why in the world astrological correlations make sense through the lens of each card. So when discussion The Emperor, for example, Corrine explains this card's connection to Aries--including behavior patterns, attitude and the ram symbol. That would be adequate, but then she explains how Aries rules the head (yes, every zodiac sign is connected to body parts, if you can believe it)...and what that means for a "head-based" leader with other "head" associations (issues?). But my favorite part of Tarot and Astrology is the Minor Arcana section. Corrine ably explains the astrological decan and placements of each Minor card, and how that energy correlates to Qabalistic spheres on the Tree of Life. For example, I love how she explains the 7 of Cups in connection to Venus (which connected to the sphere Netzach and the watery realm of Briah): "At the moment, the seven Cups are still in the process of manifestation. Their shape and structure hasn't yet materialized. For the time being, they offer nothing but promise and possibility--along with tantalizing options of perfect happiness and joy. Think of them as unborn children: when women are pregnant, they dream of all the love and success they'll share. Before those infants actually emerge, squalling and demanding to be fed, those children are perfect and unblemished little people." Wow, isn't that the truth when faced with enticing options of the 7 of Cups? And, really, only a mother could make that brilliant connection in my estimation (meaning, Corrine also brings her life experience and wisdom to this book, as well). Now, if this is all that Tarot and Astrology contained, it would be well worth paying retail. But the author doesn't stop there. No, Corrine provides charts for court card and elemental associations, as well as the Wheel of the Year and zodiac houses. She even takes us through an actual reading with the Horoscope Spread (one of my favorites). And then there's the accessible but thorough crash course (with images) explaining house opposites (e.g. Taurus and Scorpio) and how they energies play out in the corresponding Tarot cards (Hierophant wants to maintain status quo, Death wants to shake it up or take it away). But she's not done! She actually shows reader how to read a horoscope chart (think The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need ...but more succinct and with Tarot flair), providing several famous examples with complete astrological breakdown (Prince William, Marilyn Monroe, Dali, etc.). Topping it off? A nine-page glossary of astrological terms! Throughout the book are grayscale images of the recently released Wizards Tarot, co-created by the author, so readers can track the symbols and stances as she discusses them. I am thoroughly impressed by Tarot and Astrology. If you've ever been interested in the crossroad, and meeting, of the stars and the cards, you'll find this book informative and engaging. If you're a Tarot reader, your knowledge will increase exponentially by studying and using this book (and its revealing spreads). I have been eyeing this book for some time now, but I had hesitated. I am a fairly advanced Tarot reader, and could already read a single card on multiple levels: universal collective meanings, personal intuitive meanings, by Hermetic title, by numerology and by astrology. I had already learned and memorized each card's planet or sign for the Majors and court cards, each astrological decanate for the Minors and how elemental dignities influence each other, and all this info already informed my readings. Because of this, I was hesitant because I didn't think I could learn anything from this book and thought it might be only valuable for readers with little-to-no experience with adding astrology to their Tarot readings. After having this book on my wishlist forever, I was looking for my next Tarot book and decided to just, what the heck, get this. I am SO glad I did. What a rich, beautiful, insightful, informative book. What I love is that Ms. Kenner goes deeply into the astrology of each planet and sign, and I loved absorbing her rich insight and description of the traditional energy that each planet and sign brings. This book gave me deeper, more full-bodied descriptions of the different astrological energies present in the cards. For example, before reading this, I had learned that The World card was ruled by the planet Saturn, but I really didn't know how to process that info in my readings. In my mind, The Wheel of Fortune and The World needed to switch planets lol Jupiter seemed like a better fit. Since I didn't know how the planet of melancholy, challenges, limitations and hard work connected to the limitless, ecstatic "Everything Everywhere All At Once"-ness of The World card, I pretty much just ignored Saturn's presence when that card came up. But Ms. Kenner helped to open up that connection for me, and oh WOW. Dang lol I'm starting to get it now, and it's SOO helpful and now I have another layer of reading that incredible card. She also taught about other correspondences, such as parts of the body, etc. The book expands the astrological correspondences to me as they directly relate to Tarot. I also absolutely loved the fact that she also teaches Kabalah correspondences, something which I actually was looking to find more about and didn't expect to find it here. She explained it and broke it down so well, and gives me something new to practice and work on. I also love that she goes card by card into the Minors and gives her insight on just how each decanate expresses itself. For example, take the Six of Swords. This is astrologically Mercury in Aquarius. Previously, I kind of put together on my own what that means to me. But it is wonderful to explore what that exact combination means to Ms. Kenner, a highly experienced astrologer and Tarotist. It's very cool and very helpful. And finally, this book gives some really cool and helpful astrologically-based Tarot spreads, and who doesn't love that? There is a LOT of astrology info in this book, and if you are new to astrology, this book will keep you studying for quite a while (but it is also a very enjoyable and smooth read). And I also found out about another Tarot deck, the author's own "Wizard's Tarot" with John J. Blumen, which is featured in the book in black and white images (the deck is in color though, and looks lovely and powerful). I just wanted to leave this review to express that this is a great book if you are a beginner to astrology in Tarot, and ALSO a great book if you already have a good foundation of reading astrology in Tarot. It just takes you deeper and gives you even more insights. I absolutely love this book and can't recommend it enough! Happy Reading! :-)

This is the best book I’ve ever read in my entire life! This book allowed me to take my Tarot and Astrology skills and Marry them together. This book took my tarot reading to the next level allowing me to become a professional tarot reader. I stand out among my tarot reading peers and tarot competition, because my astrology based tarot readings are so powerful and insightful. To the one person that said some of the correspondences are wrong that is a false statement. You are referring to the Thoth system of astrology while this book is using rws astrology so the correspondences are actually correct. This book is packed with information and really is a 3 in one book. It teaches you tarot, astrology and how to fuse the two to be like me. And this book is only like $20 man buy this book is one of the best out!

Tarot and Astrology does an amazing thing- it explains WHY those pictures on the cards mean what they mean, which goes far towards furthering understanding of tarot cards, in clear and easy terms. Most of us realize you can read tarot just by looking at the pictures, but adding more knowledge to your base of ideas can only enhance those readings, too. If you are familiar with tarot, as I am, but new to astrology, this book does a fantastic job of taking into the realm of astrology through the back door of tarot, so I assume it also does the same if you are new to tarot but know a little something about astrology. If you are new to both, you are actually one step ahead of the game with your beginner's mind, and this book will help you get a running start with both practices. Corrine Kenner does a very good job of taking the Golden Dawn's high and lofty ideas and bringing them down to a practical level so that they can be understood easily. I cannot even tell you what an accomplishment this is. The chapter on qabalah alone is worth the price of admission for the book, and while short, has gone far towards helping me understand it better. There is little esoteric mumbo jumbo; just clear and concise writing that cuts right to the heart of any matter. This book is an entry level book, yet even as an advanced tarot student I gleaned much about the cards just from adding tidbits of astrology, and there is still more studying to be done! The spreads are fantastic, and if you are a fan of the Wizards Tarot, also by Corrine Kenner, you will love that this book is illustrated with those cards and you are given even further insight into the images. The book is firmly rooted in Golden Dawn tradition, though, so it is universal to most decks being published today. This will not be the last book you ever need on the subjects, nor should you believe any book that claims it can be. Tarot, astrology, and qabalah are all deep subjects that can given a lifetime of study, but they are also subjects that offer instant rewards at every step of the journey. In addition, you will always do far better with all three by actually doing, and not just reading any book. These are experiential subjects, and this book will give you the keys to unlocking your own experience with them.

I can’t this book down. I’m learning so much, it’s helping me to improve my tarot readings and its also teaching me about astrology. A must have if you’re into tarot and astrology and want to learn how to be better. And she gives great explanations to easy to understand.

I eagerly anticipated this book, and read it cover to cover upon receiving it from Amazon. Astrology is at the very root of the Tarot, and because I have enjoyed Corrine Kenner's books in the past, I hoped to find--not only Astrology well explained--but also clear astrological interpretations for tarot readings. When all is said and done, however, this book deserves a mixed review. It has Corrine's trademark excellence in clear prose and witty aphorisms, but gives a superficial introduction to astrology at best. After reading the book I was left with the feeling that although Corrine really knows tarot, and has studied astrology, she has not actually integrated the two in a usable synthesis in this book. This book is probably ideal for a tarot reader who knows little of astrology, but is interested in a precursory knowledge of the topic to add some spice to readings--it is organized well, covers all the basics, and mentions both the Golden Dawn and Qabalah when considering the cards. But honestly, "mention" is probably the key word here. At the end of the book I had lots of charts and general information, but a dearth of how to apply it to my tarot readings. For example, when explaining the essential dignities and aspects of astrology, there is no application to tarot reading at all. Towards the end of the book she utilizes tarot cards to delve into some famous astrological natal charts, but there is no transfer BACK to tarot reading, so the reader is able to apply tarot to basic astrology, but has no idea how to use this in a tarot reading. Let me reiterate that with these failings aside, this book is still a good book and I am glad to have it on my bookshelf--it is a good basic resource, and "The Planet, Sign, and House Spread" on pp. 246-247 is a enlightening spread. The book, one the other hand, is good--but not great.

Book is nicely detailed for both the cards meaning & it's' connection to the stars. Do a natal chart for yourself, to see how all is meant to be & aligned. New age is coming to light!

All tarot readers have read definitions like "Pluto in Taurus" or other astrology descriptions and wondered what exactly does that mean? Well Kenner to the rescue. Not only does she go through EACH tarot card explaining what the significance of those meanings are, but she has sample Astrology spreads, sample readings to show you in practice, meanings of the HOUSES and planets, Astrology signs, Kabbalah references and path definitions ... wow. She also separates out court cards, with a full page on each, along with the aces and majors. It's not just a book of card definitions like most tarot texts, but instead she maps out what each sign is, what the planets are, and how the interact with each other on the tarot card. And she even shows you a picture of the cards, so you can easily reference back to which she's talking about. This is the single best tarot book I've purchased. Period. MUST HAVE. I can't believe Amazon is selling this for $11. A bank-robbery-quality steal.
