Directions say that you have to use it for something like 20 minutes a day
meh...Directions say that you have to use it for something like 20 minutes a day, which I did not. But I couldn't tell that it did anything for me. Had I known it was so time intensive, I wouldn't have ordered it. Gave it three stars because if I did use it right, it might have worked.

Best salt inhaler - Himalayan salt with ceramic made in USA!
Salt inhalers work great to get and keep healthy lungs. We have asthma in our family, and went from using steroid inhalers every day to not having used at all for several years now with these. May not help everyone that dramatically, but they undoubtedly keep lungs healthy. The most common salt used for this is Himalyan pink salt, which is only found in China, but I do not like that most of the ceramics used for inhalers are also made in China, as lead and other contaminants are always a concern in ceramics. Was so glad to find this one made in the USA! It is well-made, comfortable to hold, and easy to refill. Great quality workmanship! If you have more of a sinus problems, I would recommend a nasal rinse (e.g. neti pot), but for lung issues this works best. Or use both for overall healthy breathing. We use sinus rinsing during allergy season, or if a cold is coming on, but the salt inhalers we use year-round. We have used more than half a dozen different inhaler brands over the years, and this is the best I have found!

Good product - poor production
This is a great product, but (1) It is overpriced. (2) The plug in the bottom is cheesy and will probably not last very long, and (3) The salt in the inhaler is not Himalayan - at least it isn't pink. It looks to me like someone took a good idea and cheapened it at every turn in the hopes of wringing more profit out of it. So I would say it's a 5 star product being distributed by a one star company.

I guess it helps?
The inhaler is really a nice porcelain, but the salt may be regular salt? It's not pink like the usual Himalayan salt, so I'm ordering some salt. I've been using it, hard to tell if it does much of anything.

Bad Packaging!
Was very anxious to receive the Himalayan Salt Inhaler. I've been using a neti pot for years now and have totally ditched allergy meds. So I thought I would give the inhaler a try due to the post nasal drip that I've had as a result of the allergies which causes a continuous drain, and residual slightly unclear lungs and cough. When I received this item it was very well wrapped in bubble wrap and a shrink wrap over the packaging, however, I'm unsure if it was shrink wrapped by the manufacturer as it was a crude wrap. As soon as I removed the bubble wrap, I noticed that a lot of loose salt was floating around in the package outside of the inhaler unit. Oddly, when I removed the ceramic unit I noticed the plug was in place, but most of the salt was outside of the unit. Being that there is a ceramic barrier that prevents the salt crystals from coming out of the mouthpiece, I cannot imagine how this happened and feel that it may not be safe or sanitary to use. I hesitate to wash it due to the unglazed surface.Very disappointed and again, have not attempted to use it and may request a return/refund.

Should have known better
It arrived on time and looks like the picture. I've tried it a few times and can't see any benefit. Maybe I'll use it as a paper weight.

What a great discovery!
I was semi-skeptical when I ordered this product. Other reviews for this type of inhaler are understandably all over the place. I won't say that this is a miracle for asthma sufferers but the first time I used it for that dry asthma cough, there was immediate relief. Initially I had purchased a salt inhaler from another company - it turned out to be smaller and made of plastic. Returned that one and bought this one from Silvershell Ceramics. This is a quality product! I still wasn't completely sold at first but after using it for several weeks now I am so glad I made the purchase. It’s been especially helpful with winter here and the furnace running a lot at night; even with a humidifier in the room, I still use this salt inhaler regularly. I plan to buy another just to have a spare. I highly recommend this product, not to cure asthma, etc., but definitely to soothe the respiratory system!

It's worth a try...
I can't be sure it was this product that alleviated my chronic bronchitis. But I noticed an improvement within a day after first use, and a significant improvement after one week. It may work better if you shake it before use, and hold the inhaler upside-down when inhaling. Try inhaling deeply and holding your breath. Twenty minutes twice a day seems sufficient. No harm in trying: it's only ionized salty air. But I'm not convinced that 'Himalayan' salt is any better than ordinary NaCl.
