A bible of sorts for History of Architecture
There is no better book than this on the subject of Architectural History. The number of hand drawn illustrations in this book are mind boggling. I used to have 2nd edition from way back. Compared this new edition to the old, they have added lot of new information on Russia, China and Scandinavia in various chapters. Even information on Hindu architecture has been enhanced as well with some new content. As far as printing and page quality are concerned, the pages used to better. In this new edition pages are a lot thinner. As far as amount+completeness with regards to the information is concerned, there is not better alternative.

excellent
this book is an excellent reference for any student of architecture. very detailed. anyone who wants to study in greater detail about indian architecture can do so by reading percy brown books and there is not much about indian architecture here.

History of Architecture as known to Sir Banister Fletcher.
I found the book interesting of course, but I was disappointed to know that there is nothing much about Indian Architecture.
