It’s foam.
It’s foam. Hard to mess up foam unless you tell foam but it’s otherwise not foam. It keeps my musical gear from smashing together. Sure. I’ll give foam 5 stars. Why not.

Good foam
Great protective foam for my camera case. Good density and will keep my expensive equipment safe. Easy to cut and shape to any case. Good size.

5 stars
Great cushions for my new-to-me dining room chairs I redid. The cushions came vacuum sealed but popped right up. They're pretty comfortable and definitely elevated my new chairs.

Foam
Easy to cut, and they were actually softer than expected, which was good given how I was using them.

More like Low/Med density, pretty reailient!
The foam came in the size as advertised, but I wasn’t sure about the high density description. The foam felt softer than what I expected of a high density foam, so I looked up the definition. Turns out there are several factors and varying standards depending on who you ask. Although firmness and destiny do not correlate, I don’t think this product meets the high density definition. Fact: one of the foam boards weighed 0.19 lbs. let’s give a conservative square foot by one inch volume x 12 to figure it’s Pounds per Cubic Foot (pcf) density … 2.4 PCF. It would be 1.8 PCF if I used the true 16” dimensions… This value on three of the four charts (posted by companies for sleeping, packing, and or furniture) landed the product at a medium density, while one of the charts said it would be considered low density foam. Three of the charts would define a 1.8 PCF a low density product. Fact 2: The indentation load deflection (ILD) is how much it takes to squish to 25% of its original size. It was about 5 pounds for this product, and would be considered pretty soft (on the soft to firm scale). Whether it’s the wrong units (maybe they meant high resilience) or different measurements, I would manage your expectations about the product meeting high density foam applications.

I have some small glass ornaments that I needed to store away, and since they are sentimental items, I wanted something more secure than bubble wrap to protect them. This foam worked perfectly. It’s 3” thick once removed from the vacuum packaging, and can be squished down to 1/2”, so it is not a super dense or stiff foam, if that is what you’re looking for. The surface is not true black, so a black permanent marker worked great for marking where I needed to cut without having any visible markings leftover afterwards. It cut beautifully with a small utility knife with a fresh blade, and I was able to make nice, precise cuts. Since another review mentioned theirs was a bit smaller than the indicated size at 24 hours after unpacking, I can confirm that mine was exactly 16”x12”x3” before cutting, although I had it sitting out for a while before measuring so I can’t say exactly how long it took to fully regain full size. If you want a very snug fit with precision cuts, I would recommend letting it sit for at least a few days after unsealing it.

This foam is similar in density to that found in several of my gun cases. It cuts well with a fresh blade in a utility knife. Most people that are ordering this will not need exactly 16 inches x 12 inches x 3 inches - usually you will be cutting it to the size that you need and the thickness should always allow for a bit of compression. Having said that, I was initially concerned when I measured this block and found that it was only 2 3/4 inches thick (70 mm) - the thickness is the one dimension that I had not planned to adjust. I had already had the foam out of the compression packaging and it had been sitting for several days so I expected that it was fully expanded - NOPE - a few days later when I was sitting down to write this review, I measured the foam again and it is now 2 7/8 inches (73 mm). At this point it has been out of the wrapper for several weeks and handled a fair bit so I cannot imagine that there is any more expansion to happen and at this point it was 15 13/16 x 11 7/8 x 2 7/8 inches (394mm x 303mm x 73mm). All dimensions are a bit smaller than advertised. Again - when you are using foam, you usually want to squeeze it in a bit to provide a snug fit for whatever you are protecting, just be aware that if you really need to fill a space 16 x 12, it will be a bit sloppy. Also note that this is NOT pick-apart foam even though one of this pictures in the description shows that.

This isnt the super-firm foam that I thought it would be; the kind you can carve out shapes for packing things in a case or whatnot - this is squishy almost pillowy type foam. Good for some uses - like thr top layer of a case lined with the firm foam for transporting fragile things for instance. Just know it's a bit hard to work with being so squishy. Mostly good for padding.

A premium, no-fuss solution for custom protective storage. These polyurethane foam sheets arrive vacuum-sealed into a compact brick, but unfold impressively into thick, dense, and perfectly flat panels. The 3-inch depth provides substantial structure, and the foam's firm, low-rebound density is ideal for securing heavy tools or delicate electronics—it absorbs shock without collapsing. The true value is in the customization. Coming as a blank slate, it requires careful planning and cutting to fit your specific items (a sharp utility knife and patience are essential). This DIY aspect is a benefit, not a drawback, allowing for a perfect, snug fit for camera bodies, lenses, or precision instruments. Overall, this is a high-quality, professional-grade material. It excels at protecting valuable items from impact and scratches in transit or storage. Highly recommended for anyone seeking to create a tailored, protective case or drawer insert that looks and performs impeccably.
