Solid entry level RG
Price and quality combine for a win! This RG is decidedly easy compared to some RG kits, but definitely harder than nearly any HG kit I've built (some custom HG kits can be tough). But the hardest part about this kit are the decals, though there are fewer than some RG kits, and the beam saber attachment. The tricky saber is the one drawback. It likes to come off the pivot when moving it, so I recommend taking it off, moving the pivot, then reattach the shield.Several RG kits have many more accessories, but the price is reasonable for this level of quality and extras compared to other RG kits.It does have several hands included: closed fist, open palm, and grip hands for the saber rifles.Overall it looks great. It is a solid beginner RG. I do recommend completing several HG or SD models before tackling an RG.Highly recommended.+ Easy RG build kit.+ Looks great, poses well, good range of movement.+ Colors are spot on.+ Value- Sparse extras.- Wonky shield / beam cannon setup

00 Quanta comes to Real Grade
00 Quanta, the last iteration of the Gundam 00 main suit is now here in Real Grade. It's a great looking suit and the kit does it good. The previous RG 00 Gundams were stellar kits, so how does this compare?Pretty close in my opinion. It uses the same frame as the Exia and 00 Gundam but in the Quanta's case you get whole new frame parts for the arms(Obviously so you can have the GN Condensers in the elbow joint). The arms use the same grey plastic as the rest of the kit and this has it's pro and con. The pro is that the arms are stiff, still enough to hold it's weapons just fine without sagging(Although the combined sword and rifle will require some kind of extra support if pointed straight out). The con however is that the wrist joint is now regular plastic and I noticed after swapping hands for a few weapon poses the plastic started to stretch and the wrists became loose.Other than that, the general pose-ability of the kit is quite similar to the Exia however since it has the shield/sword bit holder off to one side most of the time you'll likely want to have it up on an action base. The shoulder shield is on a nice strong connection so there's no worry about that sagging under it's own weight. The GN Sword V has a plug to fit into the forearm; I noticed it tends to fit better if the handle is straight in sword mode, in tilted rifle mode it doesn't quite reach the plug slot so beware of limp wrist here. The only one issue of pose-ability that I came across is that of the head; because of the white part that covers the back of it's neck, it gets lodged right into the yellow collar so the head can't really turn left or right, try to do so and you'll pop the head off. I suppose you'd have to trim that piece off in order to have a better range of motion for the head.Overall detail of the kit is pretty good for the scale. It's light on the color variations as per the previous 00 kits. There's two whites, two blues, red and yellow. It's subtle and works nicely.Accessories wise, I mentioned the GN Sword V already, but you get all the sword bits and all of them have handles so they can be used as melee weapons if desired so a myriad of posing options is abound here. Take care with these sword bits as the handles can and do come out often and since they are the normal grey plastic there is always a chance they could wear down or break. Bandai, with some helpful foresight, provides you with a simple support stand for the buster sword/rifle that plugs into the side of the GN Sword V if posing on surface. You get the standard assortment of hands, fists, trigger hands, one open left hand, and the RG hands. Bandai even gives you tiny plug adapters for the RG hands so they can hold the weapons, but honestly you're just better off using the trigger hands. You do get an adapter for the GN Sword to have it "stored" at the waist although I've always found it looks a bit odd this way and not in the hand. As extra part if you wish, you'll have an extra blue fore-arm cover so you could have it on both arms, but you'll only have the decals for one.It comes with the expected set of stick on decals and for the most part they're good enough. There's a couple decals I noticed(on the sword) that just don't seem to fit right, and of course be careful with the pin-striping decals.Overall it's another great RG kit with a couple minor issues. Definitely pick it up if you have even a passing interest in this suit.

An enjoyable cheap RG with an involved build.
This is the the 4th RG I’ve built. I completed Exia, Tallgeese and Eva-01, and now this QuanT. This it looks just as good as those kits with a high level of detail. I’m very satisfied with this RG, and I’m glad to have it as part of my collection. I got it for $25, which is usually the “base” price for Gundam HG for me. Considering that, I got many part runners for a much lower price than even certain HG kits. This is a great cheap price for a solid RG. I do want to point out that even though some larger HG kits or ones with backpacks might have a similar amount of runners, RG will always have smaller size parts. Based on my experience with RG, a lot of care needs to be taken cutting out and assembling parts. I’ve had parts break on me and the nubs need to be cleanly cut off since the parts fit together precisely. I don’t recommend RG to beginners, as I find MG more approachable actually. I’ve built many of those and have had less hassle. Beginners should try HG first. It comes with the signatures of other Gundam RG: multiple shades of the same color and MS-Joint parts. The shades of blue and white look great on this kit. When it comes to MS-Joint parts, I have had mixed results in the past so I was worried. For those who don’t know, these are pre-molded plastic skeleton parts that are used on the inside of the model kit, then the armor is built over top. Side note: this is the only RG I’ve built that suggested too assemble the full inner frame first and then built the armor on piece-by-piece. It’s interesting as I suppose you could build most RGs like this if you wanted, but the manuals usually have you complete all the limbs then do a “Final Assembly”.Getting into this kit specifically, I want to compare it to the RG Exia. This was my first RG kit that I built a long time ago. While I find Exia to be a visually impressive kit as most RG are, I don’t think it’s nearly as solid. It is because the MS-Joint skeleton came out extremely weak on that kit and it can barely hold a pose unfortunately. Beyond that, certain joints like the hips are extremely constrained by the design and the shoulder armors pop off easily. It has part to do with QuanT’s design, but it has a much easier time being posed and has a more solid build. For example, since the armor around the hips has been reduced, the range of movement in the legs is much better. I also experienced a more solid inner frame in the QuanT and a deeper knee bend. Interestingly, though this kit comes with MS-Joint arm skeletons, the actual arms on the QuanT don’t use them. The hips are a little floppy and I did have to tighten the neck ball joint with tack but it’s much more fun to pose and play with than the Exia, with a bigger range of motion and more gimmicks. I’d say this kit beats out the Exia any day is a much better build and play experience and better way to spend your money. I did find the build of the head to be quite difficult on both kits though. They both also have a loose toe bend because of the MS-Joint feet. I do also recommend tightening the joint in the upper arm for swivel because it’s a bit loose out of box. Some blue tack will fix that up, but not too much. There’s one fatal flaw for me though… The arm that connects the shield to the back. It’s just a small arm to hold up something heavy in a position like that. I wish it was engineered differently. On my kit, the shield will barely stay on the support arm. I will need to glue this. It’s a shame too because I will end up limiting the rotation by doing this.I also found the accessories to be pretty good. One thing I love about this kit is that even though it comes with the signature RG-Style pose-able hands, I’m glad that this kit comes with HG-style “sandwich” hands with a tab in the palm. I prefer these types of hands for Gundam any day as they as much more solid and reliable for holding accessories. You also get a pre-molded widespread open hand. The QuanT’s beam Sabre is awesome and more like a claymore. Combined with the shoulder shield and this Gundam looks like a swift Knight or Fencer. The way all of the smaller beam blades store onto the shield and can also be attached to the weapon is a fun gimmick and excuse to re-pose the model kit. Speaking of which, this kit comes with a small stand that can be used to hold up its greatsword for a pose. I find that if you’re creative with your balancing, you can also get a lunging pose with one leg on the ground by using it as an impromptu action base. I’m sure it would work as a full action base if you just stuck it down on a flat square off something solid. It’s almost as if they snuck a 1/144 action base into an RG and somehow kept the price down by disguising it as a weapon stand. The accessories are all blades but they have cool combining and transforming gimmicks. All in all a great RG and worth it if you can get it for a good price like this. If you have patience for small parts and know how to tighten joints, clean nubs, glue, and do lining and stickers you will have a better result. Even if you don’t, straight-built RGs usually look great too.
