Ticks ALL the boxes!
This is a fantastic watch, it's my first G-Shock so I wasn't too sure what to expect besides toughness.Pros- Solar powered, so no need to change batteries.- Atomic timing, the watch automatically calibrates the time up to 7 times a day ensuring 100% accuracy to the second. I hate that most watches drift out by a few seconds every month. A watch should always give me an accurate time, that is it's only prupose for me.- Negative display and watch face looks slick, can even get away wearing it with business wear. It wouldn't be too out of place.- Extra features such as timer, stopwatch, alarm and world time (all without having to change the battery).- Comfortable strap and low profile for people with skinny feminine wrists like me.Cons- While the negative display is a pro I can also vouch for the other reviews, it can SOMETIMES be awkward to read the time. You have to move your wrist a little to ensure the light isn't reflecting off the screen. All in all, a solid watch which gives me everything I need. The negative display is not a show stopper by any means, I chose it because it just looks better and less nerdy than a positive display (no offense to the positive display advocates). Great watch but be aware of negative display may not be for everyone
Bought this as I love G Shock watches and fancied a negative display G Shock for a change , It arrived super quick as always from Amazon especially as I have Amazon prime. The watch is usual high standardd of construction from G Shock. The inside of the strap is in red and really sets of an otherwise black on black with dark display watch .My only small concerns are it's not solar powered so requires a battery change every few years , but I knew this was the case when I ordered it and was willing to accept that but be aware if you are used to G Shocks solar models. The display was very clear and legible for a neg display BUT not good enough for me to see at a quick glance when driving or taking a quick time check look . I wear glasses and am short sighted and ultimately this was the watches undoing for me so I had to return it for a Hassle Free return 5 star service from Amazon there .In conclusion great watch BUY IT ....BUT if you wear glasses or your eyesight is not that of a young person under 30 with no issues be aware that the NEG display as good as it is may still be the thing that becomes the deal breaker for you when you try the watch in person.

Thiswatch is part of the G-Shock Black and Red Heritage ...
This is a rare, limited edition variation of the classic DW-5600-E square G-Shock. It contains the standard 3229 module with timekeeping, alarm, stopwatch and timer; plus alert notification, 12/24hr indicator and hourly signals. This watch is part of the G-Shock Black and Red Heritage series, where a number of famous G-Shock models have been given red and black straps, accents and colours. The DW5600 is the most subtle in the range, having a line of text in red above the display and a red underneath to the strap. However when wearing the watch, the red underside of the strap almost disappears. The main feature is of course that is has a negative display. Many complain that negative LCDs are not as easy to read in low light compared to positive displays. This is true, however on this watch the white numbering is very clear indeed. It also slightly changes colour depending on what angle and in what light you look at the watch. The negative display is excellent and was what persuaded me to add this to my collection. The only other white negative displays are on other 5600 variants which are either expensive or too plain. I fitted this to a combi-bracelet and it's become my favourite G-Shock. It looks great and works well. Okay there's no solar or atomic options but for the price this is super G!

The only watch you'll need, apart from the next G-Shock
It is true that the negative display is not so easy to read at some angles and especially in low light. It took a couple of 'charges' on window sill in bright sunlight to reach and maintain H high level of charge. Once that was achieved I tried the automatic time update. This worked successfully every night so far just after 2am. The watch receives the signal in South Devon 300 miles away from the transmitter in Yorkshire. The stopwatch and timer are fine. It's a good watch. It felt/looked strange after having an analogue G-Shock. I thought I'd wasted my money. It looks cool and is so light it is hardly noticable. Now I have a 'square' I will be looking at an analogue next. And in future I'll opt for positive LCD.

Mixed reviews
It is with a heavy heart I have to only give this 3*.First off:Solar, rugged, waterproof, radio controlled, all kinds of functions and customisability options. This watch has it all - the all singing all dancing perfect combination of things. I adore this. I am 100% sure this watch will outlast me and my grandchildre. It looks so cool and space age. If I threw this into a volcano it would likely be fine.Oh also the auto light when you turn your wrist is so cool. The bad:The screen. I made a choice when I purchased this one. The negative screen over the normal one. I saw the warnings about it not being visible but I took the chance. It's almost completely illegible unless you're at the perfect angle or in the dark with the light on. Because of this I stopped wearing it and started reaching for my royale instead.Do yourself a favour - go for the positive screen one or the Casio royale. Possibly give this one a miss.

Robust, reliable and recommend.
Absolutely fantastic watch, it has everything you really need in a watch, it's very robust (I've hit it off many things at work) solar charging means theres no need to worry about a battery, several alarms are handy for shift workers and it keeps time very accurately.I've heard complaints about poor visibility in low light. This is more to do with the sharper contrast you get on normal digital watches. It's perfectly readable and it has an auto lum function anyway.
