Star Wars: Dark Forces (PS)

I bought this game around 9 years ago (i think), with the likes of MDK, Pod and other games which shaped my first gaming experiences. At the time the graphics seemed really good, it has doom style graphics, and it sounded just like the films.It contains the start of the kyle katarn story, which sadly i believe has been obliterated by jedi academy, it features all of the hall marks of what made a great game at that time, like the variety of the weapons and the diversity of the levels, the puzzles were challenging but not too tough to put off a determined 8 year old, the enemies all looked like they should do and the detail of the level design was quite good. what it lacked though was more than made up for in jedi knight although this series has never really returned to the frantic fps style that i remember so fondly.All in all it was a good game, involving, varied enough to keep you playing until the end and considering how old it is, still very fun to play through.(there is a modification which is working on reconstructin the game in full 3D for Outcast or Academy, the first 3 levels were finished last time i checked)

This is the first game i ever completed all those many moons ago. And i played on it again the other day for the first time in a few years and yes! Its still amazing. As far as Im concerned (and Im a HUGE Star Wars fan) this is true Star Wars stuff. I dont think you need all the fancy force and Jedi tricks as in the future games... a blaster and some Storm Troopers (the Dark Trooper still scares me) and you have a great game!!!!
