Satisfactory for beginners and good price.
The thrustmaster USB joystick for 19.99$US plus whatever shipping and taxes is very much sufficient for a beginner in flight simulation and I also expect space games. I am having so much fun with it playing fsx and its, so far, working fine. From what I have inspected a small analog stick to the left of the middle (yellow and black) button that comes in handy, the middle button, the black button (right of the black and yellow) and 2 triggers (one like a regular trigger and the other like a R1 button on ps controllers). There is also the throttle control. Right Handed Only, so sorry for the left handers if there are no left handed one of these out there. No throttle friction to be found on this but that shouldn't come for the price I guess. Beginners buy.

A classic!
Still practically identical to the one made 25+ years ago. Meets the need for a basic joystick. Had NO compatibility issues with newer and older games. Works across the board. Works well: Compatible with new and old games

Great controller for casual games, spend the extra for a twist axis for flight simulators
All in all a good purchase for casual gaming. I was buying this to use with Kerbal Space Program, so if you are going to use it for a game like that (or any other realistic flight simulator) I would not get this. It does not have the third (twist) axis to use for yaw/translation. I had planned to use the hat control for that, but it didn't work out. With all of that being said though, if you are using this for flight games that are not super realistic (or for helicopter games where sensitive yaw or roll is not needed) this is a really good buy. The quality is nice, the range of motion and sensitivity are good, and the buttons have a nice feel.

Discontinued for a reason.
Build quality isn't terrible, but it's certainly not great. Weight is far too light for how stiff the stick it, so jumps off the table for too much. Compatibility with games is not amazing, and there's basically no documentation to help troubleshoot. As it predates Thrustmaster's modern software interfaces, there's no way to configure it or try and flash newer, less borked firmware. It's junk, simple as.

works fine, great price, some drawbacks
(One point that seems to be confusing people...though this is correctly labeled as a 3-axis joystick, the third axis is a small throttle control on the base, *not* twist-control for the rudder) When I first received the joystick, I was very happy with the quality at the price -- it's a comfortable stick (righties only), with a sufficiently sticky base that it doesn't move around on me. Within a few weeks of light to moderate use, there's already significant play in the stick (freely jiggling a couple of degrees about neutral without providing any input), which makes fine control a bit of a challenge, though overall calibration and functionality remain fine. It's adequate for my purposes (playing 20-year-old space sims), but even I would like to upgrade eventually. Still, the basics are solid enough that I'm not in any hurry to drop the big $ that will require. Overall I think this is likely an acceptable first joystick, or a joystick for someone who isn't sure whether they'll use a joystick often enough to justify spending much money...but I think almost anyone giving it significant use will want to upgrade before long. The build quality is just fine for such an inexpensive joystick, but it seems you get what you pay for in that regard.

Best bang for your buck handbrake EVER!
I was looking for a joystick to replicate a handbrake for my simulation rig. As you can see in my picture, I am using a wheel stand pro with a Logitech g27 wheel. I was sick of using a button on the wheel as the handbrake so I started looking for alternatives. Luckily I came across this joystick because the price was unbeatable just to try it out. I'm happy to say it's working better than ever. I just used gorilla tape and taped it down onto an Amazon box that I put some weight in. Not the prettiest solution but you can hardly tell while playing. For the simulation racers that are looking for a cheap handbrake alternative, you got to try this out. Fanatecs handbrake costs 140 dollars and some others go in the 200 range. If you are just a weekend racer like me then this does perfectly fine for my needs. Drifting in Assetto Corsa and playing Dirt Rally has completely changed. Both games recognized the joystick as an analog input so the handbrake works just like a real handbrake instead of just an on/off button on the steering wheel. I am in love with this thing! I haven't seen a review that talked about using this as a handbrake so if you were skeptical like me, just buy it already!!

This joystick is a great price, seems to be well made
Thrustmaster USB Joystick for Widows PC. I bought my first one of these at a electronic store. I am an occasional game player and I will admit I am old school (I never adjusted to game pad controllers). I even play an old DOS game on windows with DosBox. This joystick is a great price, seems to be well made, and does the job. It has some good button controls and a no fuss setup. I recommend this as a good buy and a great price. I liked it so well I ordered a second because Amazon had such a great deal on it. I would not say it is a high end hard core gamer stick (see some of the reviews) but for an occasional player like me it is perfect. Great value. A+

Good simple joystick for the price.
Perfect for my application. I’m not a gamer, but I like my flight simulator. I wanted a simple usb joystick with a few buttons but not a full flight yoke. This fit the bill. Plugged in and worked with no additional configuration or calibration required.

Bought this joystick specifically for playing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. It wasn't my first choice by any means but at the time of writing this every other joystick, yoke, throttle control has been sold out or is selling for vastly inflated prices due to such low stock. This joystick was pretty much what was left and also one of the cheapest (I bought for £30) so wasn't expecting much to be honest but thought it "might" be better than a keyboard and mouse at least. Anyway, pleasantly surprised. Took me a while to get it to work with MSFS but this is more down to MSFS I would say. Firstly, it doesn't recognise this joystick specifically and just shows up as "USB Game Controller" however you can still map functions to the joystick. Next issue was I had mapped Ailerons & Elevator left, right, up, down to the joystick (seemed sensible to do it this way) and no matter how sensitive I was with the joystick my plane would not react and then suddenly react violently and ultimately crash within seconds. Playing about with the sensitivity settings made no difference. Finally figured out I need to map to the Ailerons Axis and Elevator Axis instead! This appears to have caught out quite a few people in the MSFS community and I wonder how many joysticks have been returned because of this. Once I got past this problem then the joystick works like a dream. You can also further adjust the sensitivity within the software itself. I have also been able to map the drone camera functions, pause key and brakes to the buttons as well as throttle to slider control to keep keyboard input to a minimum. Finally, like the look, feel and size of the joystick. It's all black except for middle button (a touch of yellow) so matches my black keyboard, mouse, monitors. It doesn't come with any suction pads or means of fixing it to the table so I'm not sure how well this would work with more arcade like games. In the simulator I am only applying gentle movements to the stick. I've read reviews of longevity issues so will update if I encounter these. At the moment very pleased with the purchase. PS I appreciate this review is more how this joystick works with MSFS rather than the joystick itself but giving the popularity of the game right now I'm guessing I'm not the only one who considered buying the joystick for this reason
