The devil is in syrups
I was at The Dead Rabbit once and loved their mixed drinks, how delicate, balanced are they. I ordered this book in order to attempt to recreate those drinks. All drinks require you to create syrups and tinctures, which are pretty straight forward to make. If you own a good home bar, after making syrups, and getting some bitters, you'll be able to recreate many drinks with substitution of some expensive and hard to find liquors. This books is very well structured, with all recipes you need. Also, it contains a section with general suggestions for creating mixed drinks. It is much better than their previous book which contained a lot of hard to find ingredients and liquors.Highly recommend if you want to impress yourself and your friends with top-notch mixed drinks.

Fascinating But Flawed
I am a cocktail hobbyist and lived in New York where I was able to visit The Dead Rabbit as well as other world-class cocktail bars in the East Village. It would be fair to say that I probably have a better stocked bar than most people (in bottles, syrups & tools). Overall this book was a really fun read and it's given me a ton of good ideas. I was really happy with the way the book presented the recipes and creativity is oozing out of the book. I was really disappointed in that, despite my well stocked bar, there were only 2 cocktails in the entire book that I had the materials on-had to make. I was also disappointed that they didn't do a deep dive into the "why" of each cocktail. At best you get a small blurb at the bottom of the page. This is a great book but shouldn't be a "first" or even "second" book on cocktails. It's better suited for someone who has a very strong base of knowledge on cocktails and wants inspiration for something new.

Coolest fricken cocktail and comic book!
This book is amazing! So many cool recipes and the comic art that accompanies it makes it literally the coolest mixologist book out there. It’s a story and a recipe book all in one and worth a buy!

For what it is 5*, for a cocktail book 3*
So, yes, its clever and creative. You bought a cocktail book by a great team (worth checking out related books by the team). Its literally half graphic novel (somewhat clever, very violent, very Irish). I'd give the graphic novel overall 3-4*. It did make me want to drink Irish. The recipes, as the book points out are an overview of the bar's creations. I would say they are detailed and well thought out. They are great inspirations for someone wanting to design their own cocktails. For the average home bartender, if you want to exactly emulate the cocktail, you'll likely have to spend some serious dough down on obscure ingredients at the local liquor store. You would also have to spend a large amount time creating proprietary infused syrups and such. Not a fan.The big problem I had with the book is that the cocktails are mainly Irish whiskey cocktails. Not all but most. Of course! Why not? Its an Irish bar:) Still, I would have liked to see more diversity and tbh willingness to push boundaries in terms of influences. Irish whisky is by no means my current go-to in the whisky world but I feel I learned a lot about it as a result of reading the book and look forward to trying more cocktails and just brands in general. So in sum, the book was fun for the artwork, inspiring but limited in scope. From the start, the authors are very honest about what they are trying to accomplish with the book so I wouldn't hold this against them. I am glad I made the purchase. Its a nice part of my collection just very specialized.

Great for mixologists.
My boyfriend and I were in Barns and Noble one day and saw this book. It was suppose to be a birthday gift since he loved it so much. I'm so happy that Amazon had it. This turned out to be a great Christmas gift for him.

Incredible
Incredible book. Incredibly creative. The Dead Rabbit team is beyond measure in their talents. I LOVE everything about this place. The most treasured aspect for me is their love and respect for the history of NYC and the beauty of a well crafted beverage and associated history thereto. Love the RABBIT!

Delicious and unique recipes but some hard to find ingredients
I enjoyed this a little better than the first Dead rabbit book which was very good. This book speaks to how cocktail menus are created at the Dead Rabbit and has commentary on the inspiration for each recipe and why specific ingredients were selected. It also includes an appendix of syrups and tinctures that are used. The resulting drinks are delicious and unique. Many of the ingredients are not readily available (at least in Alberta which has good access to many distributors) so expect some substitutes. For the home bar, many recipes will require at least one ingredient you don’t have and need one or two syrups or tinctures from the appendix. If you make more than a few recipes, you will quickly expand your bar stock.

Poor packaging so expect damage on hard cover
Book came damaged and late.Overall the book is amazing. However it was bought as a gift and now I have to give a damaged gift. No time to return and get another one. Packaging was terrible - no safety to keep it from getting damaged.
