AWESOME, DURABLE, SUPER ACCURATE WATCH
This was purchased to replace a solar atomic Casio G-Shock I wore 24/7 for 15+ years that still works with the original battery! >> These are awesome watches because they’re super-accurate, thanks to the atomic signal timekeeping, and you don’t need to replace the batteries (solar charging). >> Out of the box it was set to the exact second and date. You never have to touch the time, as it’s synchronized to the atomic radio time signal. It only needs to be set on/off for daylight savings time. >> This is a solid looking watch, but it’s thin enough to fit under my button sleeve work shirts. It’s easy to read and has a fairly clean face, without the tiny, hard to read info-function circles of my last G shock. G-Shocks are perfect for active people who want to wear one watch and never take it off during work, sleep, showering, swimming, or play. G-Shocks take a beating and just keep performing. I never wear anything else.

Great watch!
Great watch! Simple design, solar-powered, and reliable. Only has one con: the automatic time adjustment works only when you wear it; if it’s off your wrist, it doesn’t adjust. Everything else is perfect — comfortable, stylish, and easy to use. Good for value of money, colors i like it, very light to wear, overall i am giving 5 star, i am so satisfied of quality.

3 years of near daily use
Outstanding product. I'm 3 years in. It's the best watch for me. I wanted something that would just tell me the accurate time and live forever. The solar power is amazing, the battery takes such little energy to operate that in my experience you don't really need to purposely let it charge. It just does it on its own over time provided you spend at least some time in the sun. The radio time calibration works well, although you do need to place it in a spot where the radio waves won't get blocked. I occasionally place it on my thick desk and it doesn't always calibrate when I do that. But that's no big deal. There's minimal time drift with this watch, as long as your watch catches the radio signal at least once every couple weeks your time will stay very accurate. This is exactly what I was looking for: no frills, just a durable, accurate, lasts-pretty-much-forever kind of watch. Very satisfied 3 years in, it still looks pretty much the same as when I bought it.

Versatile watch, perfect for everyday use
The GWM5610 has become my everyday watch since I bought it back in April. It might not be the most stylish watch I own—though its retro '80s styling makes its own statement—but it's certainly the most versatile, and it's the watch that's on my wrist most of the time. The solar power and atomic synching is why I bought the watch, and for me, these two features make this watch more than worth the price of admission. The solar feature works as advertised. The power indicator was at "M" / Medium when the watch was delivered, but bumped up to "H" / High within a couple days, and has stayed there ever since. Granted, the battery won't last forever—maybe 10 to 15 years—but I'll worry about that around 2030. The atomic sync took a little trial-and-error; being on the east coast, I'm a long way away from the transmitter in Fort Collins. After a few days, I discovered that as long as the 12:00 position on the dial was pointed westward—the direction of the transmitter from my current location—the watch will "catch the wave" every night. On a trip out west, closer to the transmitter, the watch was much less particular about orientation—it even synced from a moving train during an overnight ride. I couldn't get it to sync from a cabin on a cruise ship, though—must be the thick metal hull. I always want my watch to be as accurate as possible, and the syncing accomplishes this. It's perfectly synced with my computer, my phone, the clocks in train stations and airports. On the cruise when it couldn't sync, it didn't drift more than a second off the actual time, so it looks like the accuracy is pretty good even without the sync. I've swam with the watch, snorkeled with it, showered with it, dropped it. It doesn't care. It's a G-Shock. The screen is easy to read. The backlight is nice and bright, though it only lasts for a second or two before it shuts off—shorter than some backlights on non-solar watches. The Auto El works for me, but isn't perfect—occasionally it doesn't go on when you flick your wrist, and occasionally it does go on when you don't need it to—so I generally leave it shut off, unless there's a reason why I need it to light up without physically pressing the button. As for other features, the World Time is useful for travel—whether it's you in another time zone, or someone you care about. The alarm is not super loud, and it only lasts for 10 seconds—but its loud enough to wake me up, and the snooze feature can make it sound again, just in case you don't hear it the first time it goes off. I use it when travelling. Stopwatch is nice to have; I don't use it that much. The countdown timer I use a lot. The watch is comfortable to wear. It's not overly bulky like some of the G-Shocks can be. I personally wouldn't want a bigger watch than this one. I like how it looks—it has a classic design. Not that I would wear it with a suit, but I don't have to wear one most of the time. In short, this watch does everything I need it to do. Thanks to the syncing feature, it keeps perfect time, and thanks to the solar feature and rugged construction, I can expect it to keep doing so. A lot of folks use smartwatches these days. Maybe I will upgrade to one someday myself. For now, though, many smartwatches lack an always-on display, or lack the rugged construction / water-resistance, or have to be charged daily, or require an Internet connection to maintain the correct time. Personally, I'll hold off on a smartwatch until they're a little more like my G-Shock. EDIT - 27 May 2022: I've had this watch for over 5 years now, and it has seen me through countless days at the office, plenty of travel, birth of a child, and a global pandemic. It still looks almost new. It catches radio signal almost every night—it will miss every so often in the winter months, but even then most nights it gets it. During the summer, the RCVD indicator is reliably lit up every day. I traveled with the 5610 recently to a place where it couldn't catch signal, so it didn't sync for a week. It drifted about +3.5 seconds compared to the atomic clock, which isn't bad at all. Note that if you order now, you'll get the GW-M5610-U as opposed to the GW-M5610 model (which is what I have). The newer "U" model has a LED backlight, which doesn't look quite as cool, but still works fine and uses less power. It also has the ability to display the date in DD.MM format, as opposed to MM.DD, and shows the time in Stopwatch and Countdown modes. There are a few extra timezones, and some other features (like swapping the World Time timezone and your home city time). I don't think it's worth the upgrade for me, but if you're buying new, you'll get these additional features, which I think makes the watch even more of a compelling buy than it already was.

Reliable watch that gets the job done.
I've had mine for over three years now. It just works. I don't have a problem with buying inexpensive watches, but when the time comes to change the battery, they usually break on me. I decided enough was enough and I wanted one that would be solar and atomic powered, so I wouldn't have to worry about batteries or time drifting. This is perfect for my needs. It's tough, water resistant, and solar and atomic powered. I don't need anything else. I don't want a smart watch; one more thing to baby and charge frequently. I also occasionally go to places where smart watches aren't allowed, so that would be a hassle. The price is exceedingly reasonable and has dropped a bit since I bought mine. If you just want a dependable watch that gives you the necessities and doesn't break the bank, this is it.

Best watch ever, always accurate and extremely sturdy!
My favorite watch by far, I wear it everywhere, to the office, when I run my errands, outdoor adventures, gym, to the beach or pool, etc. I use this watch everyday, It is very durable and does not get scratched. I have hit this watch on everything and has not been damaged. I can it bump it on anything and not feel guilty. This is the best wach ever. it can be charged in the sun, so whenever you go outside with it, it will charged. I do not need to worry about replacing the battery. The time is always accurate, it is connected to attomic clocks around the world and updates multiple times a day! that means that this watch is always up to date. And it is also connected to whatever timezone you set it to, it will keep up with daylight savings always. If I had 1 watch to wear for the rest of my life, this would be it. It has everything I need, it is sturdy, always accurate, charges in the sun, and resistant to everything.

Excellent G-Shock for the price.
The watch I received (sometimes Amazon will group reviews with the wrong product IME): Casio G-Shock GWM5610-1 I've had this watch for about a week, I'll update this review if anything changes. I have worn a digital watch since I was five years old, so I feel confident in saying this is a really great watch, and a good value. I have worn a mix of Timex and Casio watches, but this is only my second G-Shock, the first being the DW9052. Summary: Great watch for the price (you get a lot of features and good build quality for ~$100. Pros: - Good build quality - Cool, retro design (might be a con for some) - Big numbers for time - Multiband 6 (never set your watch again) - Solar charging - World Time - Electroluminescent Display (EL) - Auto EL Cons: - The buttons are sometimes hard to press and I am worried they might become even more difficult to push after using the watch for several years. - The EL backlight does not stay on long enough (fixed in the GWM5610U) - The Auto EL feature does not work all the time. - The current time is not shown when in the stopwatch or timer feature. - The watchstrap is not very comfortable and feels rather cheap. The Design: The watch looks as it does in the picture. Everything is intuitively laid out and you will either love the design or hate it. If you are into the classic Casio watch look, you will love it. Some also say the red line around the display took some time to get used to, but I loved it as soon as I put it on my wrist. The screen is easy to read and the time is BIG so you can read it at a glance (a problem I had on the DW9052). The frame feels solid, as does the mineral glass. The Interface: Using the watch is easy and simple. I always like to read the manual, but you can get along without it. I would suggest reading it though to learn how to set your timezone for the Multiband feature. The Features: Speaking of the Multiband feature, it is very convenient and reliable. I live in San Diego County near the coast and wear the watch to sleep. Each morning I check the display to find the watch has synced with WWVB successfully. Your mileage may vary though, as I have read that some have had difficulty getting a clear signal. The "Tough Solar" feature is also very nice to have. When I received the watch it was on the "M" battery level. It took quite a bit of sunlight to get it to "H", but after leaving it in sunlight for a couple hours, I got a good three days of "H" level charge. Although, I have read that it can stay on "M" for six months without issue. I would suggest that after receiving your watch to leave it in direct sunlight for around four to six hours for two days. That should give you enough charge for a while. After that, just wear it and you should be good. The Electroluminescent (EL) backlight is nice and the auto feature is cool too, but it does not always turn on automatically when I turn the watch towards me. I wish that the backlight lasted three or so seconds instead of 1.5, but it works well enough. Note: I have read in other reviews that some people got the newer variant of this watch, the 5610U which does not have an EL backlight, but an LED instead. This one allows you to change the duration to three seconds, but it does not have that warm teal glow of the EL backlight. The timer, alarms and stopwatches all work as one would expect. It has one countdown timer, one stopwatch and five alarms. Coming from my previous watches, I found the snooze alarm (the fifth one) to be neat, but I do not use it. The countdown timer and stopwatch work well and the stopwatch has split functionality too. I just use it to time my morning runs. I would like to note that the time does not show up in the corner of the screen when using the stopwatch and timer as it did on my last two Casio watches. The 5610U has this feature. The world time browser is nice too, and one of the reasons I liked this watch over the 9052. It works as expected and allows you to change the DST status of the zone if Multiband is not working or if that timezone does not honour DST after 2009. Some have noted that you can only go West to East in the browser, not the other way. This does not bother me too much, as it allows me to use the button that would be used for that for the EL functionality. The Watchband (watchstrap): This is one of the main downsides for this watch, I wore the resin strap on the AE1200 for several years with no issues, but this one I had to change after less than a week. It just wasn't very comfortable and I always found myself adjusting it on my wrist. For some people, this may not be an issue, but for others they will have to get another watchband. I swapped the one from my DW9052 (a nylon strap) and am really happy with the result. The Buttons: The buttons on this watch remind me of the buttons on my AE1200, except these are recessed and sometimes difficult to press. They are not too bad, but pressing them for a while wears down my fingers quickly. I am also deeply concerned that they will become nearly impossible to press over the next few years, as happened on my AE1200. I am hoping that them being recessed will prevent excess dirt and oil from getting in, but I much prefer the buttons on the DW9052, which have wide plates on them to aid in pushing them and keeping foreign materials out. I doubt most people will care about the buttons (especially given that Multiband 6 will mean you won't need to set the time again) but it is something I care about. Overall: Despite the drawbacks enumerated above, this is the greatest watch I have owned. It is utilitarian in that it offers useful features and does not sacrifice too much (as many other watches seem to do). If the 5610U had an EL backlight though, I would go for that one. So should you buy this watch, if you are looking for a fashion piece, you should probably look elsewhere or consider a CasiOak watch (Analog-digital). If you want a watch that has most of these features (save the Multiband 6, Solar charging and "G-Shock" build quality), I would point you toward the AE1200, it will last a good three to four years and even more if you don't press the buttons and will only cost around $20 or less. However, if you like the classic, square look and the solar and Multiband 6 feature, this watch is great.

Maybe the greatest watch ever made
I am a watch collector and I really appreciate analog watches, but I do love a quartz digital for casual and work wear. The 5610 is by far the greatest digital watch ever made and arguably the greatest watch of ANY kind. It's small (by G-Shock standards) and so light you barely know it's there. It has nearly every conceivable useful digital watch feature--alarm, timer, stopwatch, etc. But I was specifically interested in the solar charging and world timer functionality, which let's you store 5 zones at a time. I love that in world timer mode, it keeps home time on the same screen so you always know what time it is at home at a glance when out of town. Given all of these features, they could have made it confusing to use, not the controls are very intuitive and based on the same wonderful Casio button functionality. And, it's a G-Shock, so it's basically indestructible. I gave it 5 stars because I couldn't give it 6.
