Uniheat Multi-purpose 40-hour Heat Pack (5 Pack)

I would never buy again!
So I recently just made the move from California to Washington, I bought these after seeing all the positive reviews. I bought theses packs expecting them to work as described. However my experience with this product was horrible. I have 3 snakes a Retic, Ball, and a Juvenile Burmese. I didn’t want to use the packs while I was still in California, it was relatively warm through the drive and I only bought 5 packs because I figured that would be sufficient for 3 snakes. Each pack says it provides heat for 40 hours and 100F, and all you have to do is open the package expose to air and lightly agitate the contents inside. No! By no means does this product reach 100F, no this will not last 40 hours, what it will do however is endanger the life of your reptiles and really piss you off. As we start to leave Ca we pulled over to put the heat packs in their enclosures, we did exactly as the product said and nothing happened. So after about 15 minutes and a shake weight arm workout me and my girlfriend had gotten these packs to about 85F (via the temp gun). Now I assumed that the packs would continue to get warmer overtime or at the very least stay the same temperature. Once again, NO! When we stopped to get gas and food in Oregon I of course went to check on them. Not one of these packs was even warm, the 100F 40 hour packs weren’t even warm 2 hours after I opened them. Luckily we were able to go to a WalMart and get some 12 hour pocket warmers, now these said they reach 135-140F. For a little extra I bought the adhesive packs and stuck them to the bottom of their tubs and buried them deep under their substrate. My snakes don’t burrow so I felt a lot safer running the risk of them burning themselves, then them freezing for the rest of the 9 hours we had to drive. The hand warmers funny enough did not reach 135F, the hottest I saw was 128F (via temp gun) but they did last about 8 or 9 hours and cost me $6 for 8... Notes after the trip: My Juvenile Burmese is still refusing to eat 3 weeks after the trip, his humidity is normal, temp is normal, but he refuses to eat, and as a juvenile Burmese Python, any snake owner knows it’s quite important he eats regularly (No power feeding). Sorry for the rant, I’m just very passionate about my animals, and I don’t know if I just got a bad batch or what considering all the good reviews they had. I would never purchase them again, and definitely wouldn’t recommend any one buy them. In fact I would strongly encourage the use of the hand warmers (if your snakes don’t burrow), or buyIng them from the other website, were they’re $1 each.

Don't count on 40 hours of heat
Used for emergency small animal heat. Lasted about 8 hours not the 40 advertised

Love these for when the power goes out or I’m transporting one of my reptiles to the vet. I’ve repurchase numerous times!

Great in a Pinch
Very nice! Takes a minute to heat up, and definitely doesn't last 40 hours (more like 24?) but my reptiles were kept warm in an emergency power outage and that's what's important.

They work well
I've used them for years, and they keep critters toasty warm, best used for shipments of 24hr or less.Happy with them and will continue to purchase.

Works but too expensive comparing to retail pricing
Needed the heat packs to ship plants across province. The item works as described and my plants arrived at my friends nice and healthy without getting too much shipping stress. If you can buy at local stores I would suggest to do so because I realized after it's more expensive and seller charges me shipping to return so I just kept it.
