Genki Plus: Kanji Look and Learn by Banno Eri, Yoko Ikeda, Chikako Shinagawa, Kyoko Tokashiki, K (2009) Paperback

I've tried a few kanji resources, including the Basic Kanji Book, which is fine, but this does a better job, I'd say- not even considering that it pairs with Genki (which I think is probably the best resource for basic Japanese).As for Genki- the book procedurally pairs chapter by chapter, and provides corresponding exercises with the vocab, dates, numbers, ect. that you've learned as such in Genki. Basically essential if you have Genki, I'd say.

Great series! I haven’t used the workbook yet. I have learned 27 kanji so far and 16 radicals using this book series. I use the book paired with Anki and create flash cards. I use 1 vocab word per kanji reading. That works out to about 5 words per kanji. This book gives you common vocabulary that the kanji is used in. It gives you all the major readings. It gives you example sentences. And it gives you little mnemonics. That’s all in the main textbook. I haven’t even gotten to the workbook. After this series and Genki 2 textbook, I plan on using The New York time’s “Kanji in context” which appears to pick up where this textbook leaves off.This textbook has an old print date but appears to work just fine.

I got this to help me review my Kanji. The fun pictures make learning enjoyable. The workbook has great exercises and includes an answer key. It's only 512 Kanji, so I wish there was another book for an additional 500+. These are pretty simple ones, but it's a good review.

I liked the book very much, the lessons are very useful and this will help me learn kanji.
