A near perfect balance of price, performance and features.
I have been on the market for an ultrawide monitor for quite some time now... and being one of those production minded gamers, finding the right balance between performance and image quality in an ultrawide has not been easy.... Until now. Ok lets get onto the good stuff. At the time of writing this review, the display retailing for less than $599 USD. Toss in the fact you have a 34" IPS panel (21:9), 144hz refresh rate and a pretty solid resolution which helps it achieve those high refresh rates... It is pretty much one of the most competitively designed displays on the market right now. For me personally, the resolution is perfect since not all the software I will use will scale well with a higher resolution and 2560x1080 is overall less taxing on your graphics card. LG may not have known it at the time, but this combo of features resonates very well with those of us who dabble in both work (content creation) and play. For a product almost half the price of the competition, you kind of expect some corners to be cut when it comes to quality. I am happy to say the build quality left me surprised. Everything was extremely solid, nothing felt cheap. (highfive!) Design wise, they chose to keep it simple. There are no flashy LED lights, no arbitrary plastic frills... just an edgy black frame with some red accents here and there. I do kind of wish there was some content/audio sensitive use of LED lights (As seen with Samsung's new CFG70 display) but over all, its a minor want based on personal taste. While I originally intended to use one of my VESA mounts, I ended up liking the black and red stand so much that I opted to use it instead. It was simple to assemble, just hook in and it clicks into place. A button on the back will release it from the back the monitor. The legs come with some screws attached. A quick flick of the wrist and the monitor was assembled. Very little perceivable wobble. Well done LG. In case you are wondering, the IPS panel was free of dead pixels. I also did not notice any significant light bleed... however that did change the longer I used the monitor. After about 6 hours, the light leakage was noticeable. Unfortunately its something a bit too normal with these kinds of display. The good news is however that its not nearly as bad as what some of the Acer and Asus monitors showcased, but it is still there regardless. Gaming on this ultrawide was fantastic. The 144hz refresh rate is extremely noticeable (in a good way) and the motion blur reduction features, when enabled also add to this effect. I must point out however that by using their motion blur reduction feature, the screen does get darker and a tad less saturated. One peeve I have with the monitor involves the on screen controls. Rather to be more specific, the behavior of the game toggle they added to the on screen controls. There is a quick access for game related options, which is great, but it also changes the profile... and for me I want it to stay on the default custom profile. This means you have to go back into the more advanced settings and switch it back. Its a minor annoyance but something I would love to see fixed in some firmware updates. Another awesome feature (for me at least) is LG's desktop controls. Basically you can control the settings of your monitor from within Windows, which is great if you don't want to fiddle around with the nob underneath the LG logo. Conclusion... this is a great product with some minor flaws that are easily overlooked due to its competitive price point. TLDR Its a very competitively designed display that not only looks good, but delivers on the best balance of performance, features and price. Hard to go wrong with this one.

Product fails after 2 years due to known defect, support wants $400 to repair their defect
I bought this monitor in Sept 2019. For the last 2 and a half years it has been a great monitor. If you had asked me 2 months ago if I would recommend this product, I would have said yes. Then one day I woke up, booted it up, and noticed faint grey scan lines across the top of the screen. Upon closer inspection, they were across the whole screen. I tried new cables, new ports, different monitors, etc. Was able to definitively identify this as a failure with the monitor solely. I looked at other reviews and posts online and found that MANY people had this same issue. Some would experience soon after purchase, but many didn't see the issue happen until around the 2-2.5 year mark. I understand modern tech is complicated, I know things don't last forever. But 2.5 years for an $800 monitor that's been treated carefully, never moved, never damaged...not acceptable. It's on a hydraulic monitor mount so it's never been physically damaged. As time has gone on, the issue gets worse. The faint grey scan lines are across the entire monitor. Opening any large window of a single color shows the issue very clearly. When I freshly boot up the monitor after being off, the scan lines at the top 10% of the screen are very dark, flash on and off, and move on the screen. Very disappointing and totally distracting. It's been about 3 weeks since the issue started and now the HDR feature which used to work fine is just turning on and off randomly. I have to type this review on my second monitor because now when I open white background webpages on the LG, for some reason HDR is kicking on and the screen is too bright to read the text. Also, occasionally when I alt tab between games and desktop, certain areas of the monitor flicker all bright blue, or bright green, like the pixels are confused whether they should be on or not. These are on areas that should be black, not blue or green. Very strange. I contacted customer support with the issue a few days after I noticed it. "oh yes, we can fix that. Send us $400 and the monitor and we will fix it." Oh, and it comes with a 90 day repair warranty. Um, lol? The monitor was $800 brand new. You want half that price to "fix" a problem that is a known defect with the panel? A defect that has been identified and referenced in dozens of reviews on amazon, LG.com, and throughout forums online? This isn't a one time issue affecting me, this is a failure with this product. I politely explained that and offered instead to send them the monitor, they send me store credit so I can buy a new monitor (cuz I'm sure not spending full price from LG again after this), and they can refurbish and sell it themselves since they must stand behind their repair service. Well, it's been 3 weeks and LG has not responded. They did, however, sign me up for their stupid newsletter so at least my inbox is clogged with marketing from a company that sells defective products they don't stand behind. I have no intention of purchasing an LG product again, and I am making it my tech mission to inform people of their poor customer service. I know the price on this seems great for what it offers, but the chintzy 1 year warranty should be all the evidence you need to know this company doesn't actually stand behind the products they make. I am eyeing Alienware products going forward. I know Dell doesn't have the best customer service either, but they at least offer 3 year warranties on their ultrawide monitors, so at least they stand behind what they make. Normalizing the idea that monitors should just up and croak after 2.5 years is absurd.

Really nice gaming monitor
Got this LG monitor on sale so the price was right. It overall looks great on my gaming PC and desktop. Upon delivery monitor was in good condition and was easy to set up (w/the stand. Upon powerup no dead pixels or screen/video issues. My connections are display port (for 144hz video) and USB (for updates/config). There is an app tool you can install from the LG website that will allow you to config and upgrade the monitor firmware from the PC so I installed that. I had to update the firmware for the app tool config to work. The update went quickly (<5min), but you do have to unplug the monitor after it completes. My video card is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (w/11gig mem) so I needed to set the LG monitor's vertical sync config to Freesync (extended) to get it's G-sync equivalent. Was able to do this using the LG app tool (can also do this using the config buttons on the monitor). Once done, the "Enable G-sync Compatible" was automatically enabled in the NVIDIA config settings. So now I was all set for 144hz G-sync. In Battlefield V and 1, the monitor picture looks spectacular with all settings set to highest, gameplay was smooth and sharp. The picture overall was a little dark and colors a bit intense (especially reds) in both games and desktop so I ended up adjusting color settings in both LG app tool and NVIDIA config. Otherwise all aspects (video, pictures, games) look great. Although I've only had the LG monitor for <1week, I am very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a high-end gaming monitor.

For mid range gamers, this is a really good option for an Ultrawide monitor. When you get the right distance from eye to screen, you will really feel the immersion in the game. Fast charge USBs are also a great plus as you can plug phone chargers on the monitor and save up some USB slots on your computer. All in all, a very good buy.
