Best office chair ever. Worth every penny. If you're tall, you will LOVE this chair.
I bought this Ergohuman as a replacement for my previous Ergohuman office chair, which was the previous model of this exact same chair. They're almost identical, with some improvements I really like. To put it colloquially, "You can't bust 'em." I use this office chair about 6-12 hours per day, as I used the previous one for 12 years. It's the primary chair I sit in at home. I bought the first one in 2009, and it finally broke recently after 12 years and multiple long-distance relocations (all interstate, including one cross-country, coast-to-coast move). No other chair I've found is nearly as good as this one. The frame is solid metal. The chair is stable and comfy. The adjustable height range accommodates taller people very well. It is a solid chair. Note that it *is* a little heavy for an office chair, but only because it's very durable and well-made. Unlike most office chairs that either sit really low or at an average height, this chair sits either at an average or high height. I'm 6'2, and I adjust it as low as it will go for the right ergonomics for me (my shins are average length). If I elevate the seat all the way, my toes barely touch the floor. If you're tall, you will love this chair. This chair will last you at least a decade, and will have been worth every penny in the end. At the end of the day, I saved a ton of money buying the previous version of this chair instead of a series of cheap chairs over the 12 years. I have every confidence this new version will last me every bit as long, and save every bit as much money versus what I would spend on cheaper chairs. If you're on the fence but seriously considering this chair: Do it; you won't regret it for an instant, especially if you're tall.

Great product--instructions for assembly/dissassemby not so much
The product is very well-made. The directions for assembly are barely adequate, and there is no guidance on how to disassemble this product in case it needs to be returned. I am a professional writer, retired, and I wrote marketing/technical advertising for two Fortune 10 companies for over 30 years. The directions that came with this product are the worst I have ever seen. We are sending the product back and Amazon is graciously agreeing to sending us a bigger box since the product cannot be dissasembled to the point it will fit in the original box. In summary, Amazon was terrific. The manufacturer made a great product. The people writing the directions for this product (such as they are) need to either receive additional training or the manufacturer needs to find people who are already better equipped to write instruction manuals.

Very expensive to return!!!
I ended up returning this chair because I found it to be uncomfortable in the seating area and the arms much too wobbly with minimal effort-while the chair is very nice looking I found it lacking in the comfort I needed and it caused painful pressure in the thigh area when seated after about an hour or so of sitting-which was the reason I sold my Herman Miller Aeron. I returned it within two weeks and was literally shocked at what they charged me-I paid a total of $1023.73 with taxes and my refund amount was only $807.81-the additional $215.92 they kept was for "restocking fee and return shipping"-BUYER BEWARE"-if this chair does not meet your needs you are probably better off selling it than returning it unless you have a free money lying around for them to keep-will never again order anything from this seller!!

Very good
I'm sitting on this chair as I write this. I have had it for about 2 months now and use it everyday at my office. I am a counselor so I sit a lot. It is a comfortable chair with lots of adjustments to make your sitting experience more pleasant. There seems to be plenty of support. I have to say though...I am still not convinced it was worth it. My 10+ Lazy Boy I had before was pretty good...but I got this because I was having lower back issues. Again...my jury is still out as to the benefits of the chair.

Comfy and built like a tank.
I'm 6'5 and 250lbs. I sit in a chair 8 hrs a day at my office and I go through a big & tall chair about every 18 months. I decided to splurge and get this chair since the entire frame is aluminum opposed to cast-pot-metal bolted to plywood like most big and tall chairs. My boss has had this chair since 2008 and it still works like new. He is 6'3 225 and the shock is the original. If you are big and/or tall you know how rare that is. I can't tell you just how happy I am with this purchase. It takes a little time to get used to the stiffer foam and the lumbar support but the chair is so adjustable most anyone could find a comfortable position. I read other reviews stating that the chair was too small for tall people. I'm not sure where that comes from. This is the first chair I have owned that I have to let down from it highest shock adjustment because it is too tall to go under my desk. Also, the seat of the chair slides out several inches to accommodate longer legs. The back slides up or down with 4 positions. I have the back in the highest point and the seat about half way out and it is perfect. I tried to sit in my old fluffy chair yesterday and it felt terrible. Smushy cushions may be good for a couch but not an 8 hour workday. This chair is also genuine leather, none of that bonded junk that peels off. The leather is tough and durable and feels more like a BMW seat than a jacket. Hopefully this review will help someone that is sick of breaking their chair every couple years. I will upload some pics to the gallery and I will update this review if I have any issues down the road.

THE ARMS ARE THE WORST
It's a beautiful chair overall, but the arms are the worst! You cannot set the height except by chance. There is also so much action in the arm pads that you know they will break within a year's time. Worst is trying to adjust the arm height: I've spent WAY too much time jerking the arms up and down till I simply gave up. After I gave up, they finally set to a position I wanted, but not without first driving me to temporary insanity. Also, it makes a lot of noise (as if settling), which make you feel as though the whole thing is going to collapse underneath you. Oh, I forgot to mention the lack of adjustability in the head-rest; I can live with it, but it should be a lot more flexible. I don't exactly regret buying this chair, but I expect to be replacing it within the next year or two.

This is the nicest, best fitting office chair, I've ever sat on!
After seeing some of the negative reviews of this chair, I was apprehensive to pay this much for one, without sitting on it first. In the past, I have purchased the best chairs that Office Depot/Staples or Costco had for sale. Everyone of those chairs were poorly fitting and lasted about 4-5 years before the frame would break, or the covering/padding would disintegrate. The fit was the biggest complaint I've had about all of these chairs. I'm 6' 1", 170lbs., with longer legs and arms - thought I'd get that out of the way as it's helpful to know what body types either like this chair or complain. I broke my left collar bone at the shoulder years ago and never got it fixed. My neck is more sensitive than most. I needed a chair that was fully adjustable and comfortable for long periods of sitting. I'm an IT admin and have spent 20 hours in a chair, in one day. I have a home office so I also needed a chair that reclines comfortably and quietly. All that said, this is the nicest, best fitting office chair, I've ever sat on! I went through the adjustments and got it setup properly and I can't convey the relief and blissful feeling I get from sitting in this chair, typing this review now. In my experience, this chair: has no foul odor does not make any noise while reclining or moving is not too firm does not dig in to my back with the lumbar support - to where it is uncomfortable - it's perfect for me at the highest setting headrest's height is not in an uncomfortable spot - it's got many angles that work well I will update this review if things change, but this chair is well-built and should last a very long time. I would recommend it to anyone.

Not For Everyone
This has to be one of the most uncomfortable chairs I've had the displeasure of sitting on. I bought it because I got tired of having chairs fall apart after one and a half to two years and I also wanted something that I can sit on for a few hours if I have to. Overall, it seems to be pretty sturdy, except for the armrests. The lumbar support does not have adjustable tension and presses very hard on the lower back. The headrest protrudes forward from the back of the chair. They state it's for your neck but I find it to be annoying because I can't seem to set it in the right position. The seat has an outer frame which is a problem for me because it can't be tilted down in the front. It places a lot of pressure on the back of my legs. Initially it's just uncomfortable but after a while it actually starts to become painful. I'm 6ft.-190lbs. and with the seat in the lowest position my legs aren't long enough to sit comfortably without me using something to put my feet on. I replaced the rollers with smaller ones to lower the chair which helped somewhat, but very little. The seat frame also doesn't allow you to spread your legs out because the sides are high which causes leg discomfort as well. The adverse effects I get from this design don't happen when I initially sit down, but will eventually appear after sitting for a couple of hours, which kind of defeats the purpose of getting this chair. The armrests are uncomfortable because they are firm and flat, and although not sharp, the edges aren't that well rounded. Additionally, It takes little effort to get an armrest to go out of adjustment just by grabbing it to adjust your position or to swivel the chair. Every time I sit in that chair I'm constantly adjusting it to try to get comfortable and if I sit in it for a few hours, I'm in pain. In spite of all of this I would like to say that although I don't consider this to be a high-end chair, it's not poorly made either. The build quality is definitely better than what you would get at some of the popular retail stores and should last a few years. It looks the upholstery is real leather, which unlike bonded leather, won't peel. Apparently a lot of people like this chair, but even after using it for a few months I still find it to be very uncomfortable. That's why I say it's not for everyone and if you can find it somewhere locally to check it out first (which I didn't do)---do that and then buy it through Amazon!
