I am new to gardening and know nothing about soil PH levels etc. Bought this to check my soil and it told be exactly what I needed to know. My garden has an average PH level of 6.5 which is great for most plants. It also gives more information such as moisture levels which I have used for my indoor plants to check if they need watering. Its quick and simple. Only dropped one star because you do need to look at the dial reading whilst its still in the soil so it may be difficult to read for some.

PH reader doesn't work
Bought this to test the ph of my garden soil but unfortunately this function doesn't seem to work. The light and soil moisture works fine but when it comes to PH the gauge does not move. I even tried a bag of acidic compost to make sure it wasn't the tool that was off but the gauge didn't move and stayed at alkaline.

A waste of money!
I bought this as I had just moved into a new home and wanted to know about the soil conditions in my garden. I suspected they were acidic, because I had a number of acid loving plants there. I pushed the gadget in to a spot with moist soil and where there was good bright daylight. Apparently my soil was on the alkaline side, bone dry and in darkness. I tried again and again in other places, and finally with the sun full on the gadget it admitted that it was light, but still dry and alkaline. Finally I brought the thing indoors, and put it into neat (acidic) fruit juice, and geuss what? Yup it was alkaline and completely dry! I have returned it for a refund.

Easy to use - makes watering plants much quicker and efficient as you only water where needed
Really pleased to have this product. Has instantly turned me into a more aware gardener. Used the meter to explore why my blueberries were dying. Thought it might be not enough water. Turned out they were being over watered and also the soil ph was wrong. Now used all the time when watering, and it has made the process much quicker as I now only water the plants that need it. Especially in this hot weather, many have seemed dry, yet below the surface they had plenty of water. Haven't needed to use the light meter yet.

PH does not work
Readings change for humidity and sun but PH gauge is between 7 and 8 even in blueberry soil, so seems defective
