You May Not Kiss The Bride [DVD]

The film tries to be a romantic comedy, and even features a few recognizable stars. The problem is that the entire plot is predicated on American understanding of Croatia (or apparently Europe). Croatian characters have Serbian names and talk with Russian accents. The Croatian dad complaining about how bad coffee is back in his country (while drinking diner coffee in New York), makes about as much sense as an Italian saying that pasta "back home" is garbage. Even when the main character first goes looking for his future bride, he picks the most inbred looking woman in the bar, silently conveying a world of preconceived American ignorance. Every time a "Croatian" character talks in their native language they mispronounced their way through a mumbled approximation of what they think it may sound like. "Slavic traditions" and music are randomly thrown in from any country but Croatia.The errors stop being amusing and quickly become offensive because of how thoroughly they demonstrate an apathetic ignorance of the culture the director chose for the story, and the classic American superiority complex.

Full on comedy with plenty of laughs, The story once upon a time lets skip that part, When a quiet pet photographer falls foul of some gangsters he has no option but to marry her for the green card to please her father and get off the hook. Sent on a romantic honeymoon on a remote island things seem to be in his favour, a beautiful women and him what could possibly go wrong. Only things turn out differently when her ex boyfriend sends in the hitman to kidnap her to bring her back home. Bryan been no hero type has trouble stopping the abduction with plenty of mishaps and hilarious adventure trying to save her. I rated this an A grade plus comedy and action that will have you in laughter from beginning to the end. The storyline and cast do this show justice that makes it so entertaining. Night in with a fabulous movie that you'll consider not to bad. Enjoy!

beautiful cinematography. easy to watch. relaxing. good looking people. romantic. sweet. the main characters are straight-forward and honest rather than tricky and smart with each other, which makes them very likeable. (lots of shooting but only 2 people presumed dead.) it was a very comfortable film to watch. I'm not saying it will change your life or that you'll learn anything, but it is one of those movies that is like a mini-vacation .

Patchy with horrible over acting by the person playing the pilot. The rest do a decent job, best being Cathy Bates by far. Some decent ideas and some beautiful scenery. Decent enough if you love chick flicks with a cute leading man and want a little bit of escapism. Don't bother if you like your films with any realism. IMHO more on screen chemistry than the recent BBC offering of Lady Chatterley and Mellors.

Ok so you can see the ending coming a mile off but quite how it gets there was unexpected. This however is due to the utterly haphazard and random way the story lurches around rather than any clever writing. Its watchable enough though.

For some reason this seems more as an advertisement then an actual movie.

I only watched this for 5 minutes and had to switch it off, I know you should give a film a chance BUT from the tacky first scene and bad acting I couldnt watch it any further. The first scene is cheesey and just plain silly. Maybe good for young kids ??
