Crossword Game, Deluxe Travel Edition

This is the best portable SCRABBLE game currently available in the US. Of course it's the only one too. I had heard it was not very well made before I bought it so I'm not too surprised at how poorly designed it is. I don't know anything about board game manufacturing, plastic injection molding, etc. but I would not have done some of the things they did.The game opens in the middle like a book, revealing the board. Beneath one half of the board is a storage area for the racks, tiles, and the tile bag. It would make sense to put the tiles in the tile bag between games. That way if the game gets opened upside down or pops open when dropped (which I guarantee would happen) the little tiles don't spill everywhere. But the thing has a warning that the tiles must not be storee in the bag between games. You can still do it anyway but you have to be sure to distribute them evenly.As others have mentioned, the printed cardboard game board face that fits under the clear plastic is not secured very well and mine kept falling out. I used some clear glue to stick it in place.The board uses a raised plastic grid so the tiles can't slide around too easily. But it's still pretty easy to dislodge them if you have it resting on your airline tray table and cross your legs. Maybe magnets or a peg and pegboard arrangement would have helped.The plastic used for the case and board is of the wrong type for this application. I expect mine to be cracked within a year or so if I take on trips very often. I would be inclined to keep it in my carry-on luggage like you would a laptop computer.The tiles are real wood. How 'bout that. They cheaped out everywhere else but the tiles are nice. Overall it's a nice looking set; just a little flimsy for a travel edition. Still I would recommend it. What else are you going to do if you want to play SCRABBLE on the road?

absolutely love, love, love it....bought 2 ...one for home and one to take on visits to elderly aunt. actually left the spare one with her. she is 92 yrs old and her scrabble skills are legendary. i play scrabble with her several times a week, she is perfectly mentally clear. both sets were used items but look like new. one of the best buys i ever made.

Arrived as scheduled. Given to family member as a gift while looking for home bound activities because of COVID-19. Received positive feedback for choice of gift.

This newer version of the travel scrabble is not quite as durable as my old one, but it works. I like the wood tiles as opposed to thin plastic letters on other travel sets. I haven't had the ink wear off yet!

Hello, I was very disappointed.The letters were tiny.They would not clip onto the board to stay firm.This is the purpose of travel scrabble.The plastic container box would not hold all the contents including the racks and letters.There was no scoring rack.I had hoped to purchase a luxury travel set similar to a previous one I had some years ago.I was able to donate the set to a relative as a Christmas gift so can't return it.Please send my comments to the manufacturers. They need to improve their product. Thanks. Ted Waring.

I thought it was going to be exactly like the Scrabble Deluxe Travel Edition I had before. Buyer beware. This one was less expensive than the others I saw online, and found out why. The lettering under the plastic was different on one side both in color and placement. I photocopied the good side and cut and pasted the squares on the other side to match, Gave is 3 out of 5 because I got it for less -- and it was fixable.

This was a used version of a travel scrabble that I have used for years; the hinge on mine finally broke. This version far better than the travel versions available on the market now. It's compact, legible, and durable. Don't ask me why the publisher stopped making this version.
