Good bright light, great value

WHAT'S GOOD Very bright and white compared with halogen W5W bulbs (40-60 lumens) so the claim of 120lm is credible. Same shape and size as a standard T10, W5W, 510 bulb, with bases that fit bulb holders properly and securely. No issues with polarity or holders with single-sided contacts. The aluminium 'base' (for heat dissipation) of these bulbs is in fact the central section of the body and becomes almost too hot to touch after some time with the bulb lit; within about 30s a T10 halogen bulb is hot enough to burn! No polarity issue and all 10 worked out of the pack. The base, where the contacts are, is silver-coloured plastic. WHAT'S NOT SO GOOD The claim of "360° illumination with no dark spots" is false. Two back to back COB LEDs facing sideways, mean that, unlike a filament bulb, light distribution is far from even; it's particularly poor in the forward direction - photo 2. In a light unit with a well-design reflector and lens this is unlikely to be a significant problem; they are satisfactory in the map/spot interior lights (photos 3 & 4) and in the front sidelights of my car (photos 5 & 6). With all-black trim, the boot is a 'black-hole' - not helped by the light's design with the bulb shining sideways with no reflector, a reflector cute from an aluminium beer-can improves the illumination (in theory 4X the light), though a better spread of light is what's really needed - a string of 12V Christmas lights? :) BTW Given how hot the aluminum body section becomes, I do wonder about longevity in continuous use in a closed light unit (e.g. sidelight, number plate). Time will tell; although most of my driving is in daylight, with a dark blue car I tend to use the sidelights as Daytime Running Lights - particularly in winter. FWIW The side-lights are now noticeably whiter than the HID dipped beams (new bulbs). Technically they may not be legal as front side-lights, but as the car has just sailed through its MoT without any comment, I have ordered some 200lm alternatives that should project more light forward but without dazzling anyone. PHOTOS 1) Real bulbs side-by-side, 2) Dark areas, 3) Interior light with GLL in just one spot/reading light to show difference (in daylight), 4) ditto with GLL in both spot/map/reading lights, 5) Nearside front sidelight with halogen bulb, and 6) replaced by a GLL LED (both taken in broad daylight). BOTTOM LINE A great improvement in the interior spot/reading lights and the boot light. Tried them in the interior courtesy lights - too bright and white at night! Not as effective in the front sidelights as I'd hoped.

Fantastic so far easy to fit nice bright White light much better than the old ones. Just don't know how long they will last but so far so good. Very happy

Work great got them for my Citron Belingo. Only put them in the number plate blues but they are bright . Would recommend .

Bought for my Peugeot 2008, as interior bulb replacements they are good and going strong for a year but as number plate bulbs they don't last very long. I drive mainly at night so these would be on constantly and they can't seem to tolerate / withstand the 14.5V the car puts through them whilst driving. They start flashing or flickering after about 3 months. I did read that this may be rectified by adding a resistor in the circuit to keep the voltage at 12V but I can't be bothered with that so I am using the regular W5W bulbs again.
