theoretical and practical
This book provides a broad theoretical basis for coaching with valuable practical tips to note, pitfalls to avoid and case studies to examine. Jenny Rogers' writing style is candid and fluid, but the content really engages. I am reading this as part of a coaching certification program, and veteran and new coaches alike are voicing tremendous value in this book, both in our coaching but also in our own self-awareness.

A book to give you a head start on coaching
I am still a novice on this topic. Within that context, I found the book most helpful. I found several points worth taking a notes. Case studies spread across chapters in the book also help you to understand the practicalities of the tips.

Simply the best.
I was recommended this book by another coach, and it's worth every penny. Clear, down to earth, based on experience and also inspiring in it's emphasis on seeing the client as infinitely resourceful. I'm still digesting it and also using it for my mentoring masters. If you have to get one coaching book, pick this one. Having had to read a pile of others for my masters, this one is the best and it wasn't on the reading list!

Essential reading for every manager and coaching professional!
Our ILM Coaching and mentoring certificate students at level 5 and 7 have been devouring the second edition for the past 4 years. This third edition brings to life the focus on relevant practical skills, and sound ideas to consider, when practicing coaching. The tentative and exploratory journey into the impact of neuroscience on coaching, with practical case study illustration and the use of the SCARF model, offers practitioners a much needed illustration of new ways of working to achieve excellence in coaching. We are lucky to have such a generous and empathic coaching diva in our world to give us the explanations and insights needed to entice and stimulate both new and experienced coaches.

If you only buy one coaching handbook
I have recommended this handbook to many people. It's one I return to time and again, for Jenny Rogers' pragmatic and sensible approach to coaching. Have just purchased her latest book and expect the same from that.
