As sure as at the end Johnny Depp is getting laid, Anna Travis solves her case
Freshly minted DCI, Anna Travis, is tasked, against her best judgment, to look at a missing person case, after the Yard’s misper couldn’t find anything about the disappearance of a supposed semi-saint person. At the man father’s perseverance, and her superior, DCI Langton’s arm-twisting, she and her team get involved in the case. At first, nothing looks suspicious. But after not too long, evidence is discovered that something fishy was going on in the subject’s apartment, he shared with her soon-to-be-married live-in girlfriend.Slowly, Travis discovers that the semi-saint is far to be one, almost everyone she talks to is lying or has something to hide and it becomes obvious that she is dealing with a murder, without a body or conclusive evidence even knowing who the victim is.This is Travis’ first case of murder riding solo as DCI. So, she must succeed or else she would be relegated to a desk job which is not her lifetime objective. In addition, her failure, in a male-dominated, authoritarian organization would be construed as the failure of all females in a high-level job.To increase the pressure on her are her rabbi, DCI Langton’s meddling in the case, frictions in her team because of bigotry and prejudice and the constant lying of her key witness/suspect. But Anna’s tenacity, good instincts, and interviewing skills save the day.I have yet to read a book, authored by Lynda La Plante in which she is not at the top of her game. Or for that matter, everybody else’s game. "Blood Line" is no exception.

The best story so far!
Having started with book #1 in the Anna Travis stories, I think this is the best so far! Is the missing man dead or did he just run away? The story follows along, day by day, as Anna and her team search and dig to find the answers. No solving the mystery in one hour like in the TV shows. Ms LaPlante takes the reader along in the process of solving The Who-done-it and following the trials and tribulations and growth of Anna Travis. This faithful reader will continue reading all the great stories this writer has to offer! I love reading about Anna Travis’ growth!

Lies
A father is concerned because his adult son is missing; the son's live in fiancee seems unperturbed. At first the police are uninterested, but as evidence of something untoward happening mounts, their interest increases. Although there is no body, a full scale murder is begun with DCI Anna Travis leading it in her first outing as lead detective in a major murder inquiry. The many twists and turns that occur as the investigation expands make for exciting reading. The characters are not likeable and theories are proposed, demolished and revived. Because the police are obsessed with getting a confession, the many lies they are told become a crucial part of the investigation. This is a very readable book.

HARD TO RATE
I hadn't read an Anna Travis book in awhile but remembered liking them. I didn't recall feeling any of them were in the least bit tedious to read; this one was. I have nothing but praise for the plot, or the dialog, etc., - everything was there that makes a great read. But I felt like I was slogging through a swamp of minutia! I know every detail of Anna's morning and nightly routines except the brand of her toilet paper! Describing environments, making the story and characters come alive, adds so much to the enjoyment of reading......but, too much drags the momentum down and can make a book tedious to get through. This one was....but, great tale!

Annoying Detective
I got this book and realized I had read anothe Anna Travis book, and for sure, the character was consistent, i.e. cranky for little, or no reason - all the time - and just annoying. This is the author of the Prime Suspect series, which are great police procedurals. This is not great. The story is good enough, but the eternal grumping around of Travis really does spoil it. She does not come off as tough, but rather just very unlikeable, which I don't think was the goal. These do not come close to the quality of Prime Suspect, and it's unlikely that I will read another in this series.

Highly Recommended series
BLOODLINE by Lynda La Plante is Book #7 of the Anna Travis Mysteries series. It is a chilling narrative - a narrative which uncovers layer after layer of lies, false identity, misrepresentation and deceit.I find the ‘police procedurals’ of Ms. La Plante to be fascinating - lessons in patience and investigative research. The characters and background information are interesting to read about. Alan Rawlins is a shadowy figure - Who is he, really? How did this MisPers (Missing Persons) case come to demand so much interest? This is a highly recommended series.

Don't Bother Crossing This Line
While I was riveted by all of the other Anna Travis books, this one was an incredible disappointment. Not much happens throughout most of this slow moving novel, and by the time the actual crime is resolved, I stopped caring. Further, the interaction between Langton and Travis is so subdued, it is almost non-existent. Their relationship is electric, and La Plante needs to return that fragile relationship to the foreground. I do hope that "Wrongful Death," which I have already pre-ordered, is up to the author's former high standards.

Blood Line AnnaTravis Mystery Book 7 review
Not having read any of Lynda La Plante's before I can't compare this one to any of her others let alone in this series. It was an interesting premise as there was never a body to identify until one was found late in the book.I enjoyed the book and was surprised by the ending. If you enjoy following clues regarding crime scenes I would definitely recommend this book.Langston's character was not one of my favorite people in the book.

Not my favourite!
I have read all but one of the previous Anna Travis books and enjoyed reading them all, but this one wasn’t as good ! It was mundane and repetitive throughout. I nearly gave up at the beginning but decided to carry on with it but the story line never really got going for me and I couldn’t wait to finish it. It’s a shame but the lead character, Anna, who is still reasonably young has lost her sparkle and just came across as dull and predictably grumpy with everybody she encounters throughout the investigation.

Mystery
I have just read this book in order of the Anna Travis series, I have enjoyed everyone of them up until this one. I was glad to finish the book so as I can start another book. The book was so dreary and slow. Lynda la Plante usually has me wanting to turn to the next chapter but this one I could close the page and go to sleep. I hope the next Anna Travis is better.

Another cracker
After reading Book 7 in this series I wondered how that hook could ever be topped. As expected although this is yet another great book it didn't keep my adrenalin pumping like Book 6. Did like the connection to Cornwall and could picture Newquay as been there lots of times.Overall yet another cracking book by Lynda La Plante

Not Impressed By Mistakes In A Best-Seller
I wasn't impressed with the amount of mistakes in this since it's by a best-selling author and isn't a free book, either. More care is definitely needed in this format because it really isn't good enough.Lots of apostrophe mistakes, mostly in that they were missed altogether, especially repeatedly when ladies' or gents' toilets were mentioned. Then random spaces were plonked into words and never spotted by an editing process-like ear ns/passpor ts/fabr ics. Then lost speechmarks and capital letters and specks was suddenly spelt as specs. There was catalyzes spelled the American way for some reason as well.A couple of times things were stated as if to assume they'd been mentioned already and I ended up scrolling back in vain because there weren't prior mentions. So that was confusing. In the story itself, which was good despite being overshadowed for me, I felt for Alan's dad, the man searching for his son. It was a shame how things were working out for him.I really like this series so intend to stick with it and hope the next instalment isn't put out as carelessly for the Kindle as this one has been. I don't think I've seen this one as a TV drama yet. I always watch those, too. So I do look forward to that.
