X-701 Tactical Ballpoint Pen And Refills, Fine Point, 0.7mm, Black Ink, 1 Pen And 2 Refills (29811)

I put this pen on a ball chain attached to my belt loop for work. I was breaking pens in my pocket or losing pens to bending down. The plastic seems to be holding up so far and I've had it for a week without losing it so I'm good with it. It's a sharp pen so it punches through some soft material like cardboard but grips and writes great.

This is a really good pen, it is sturdy and writes well even for a left handed person.

Excellent pen for any weather condition, it writes in the rain, upside down and when it’s cold. I carry this pen and waterproof paper on my motorcycle trips and hiking

Pros: 1. Longest I've ever hung onto the same pen with daily use 2. Durable 3. Ink lasts a really long time 4. Writes in fairly tough conditions 5. It's a click pen!!! 6. Can attach to a lanyard so you always have it readily available! Cons: 1. Today, the tip of the pen is just ... Gone? It was on there yesterday. 2. No soft grip. Metal isn't as comfortable as other pens 3. Ink becomes a little lighter in below freezing conditions outdoors, but still more legible then other pens in extreme cold. Summary: I got tired of losing my good click pens at work, so I decided to spring for a pen that I could attach to my lanyard. Attaching it has provided two benefits - first, I still have the same pen, which is a miracle since I ordered it October 1st!! Second, it is very handy on my lanyard. I can write what I need for work in many situations without even detaching it, and even after six months of use, I still haven't needed to use one of the included refills yet. The reason it only gets four stars is because somehow between yesterday and this morning, the metal tip fell out and is now missing. It didn't seem loose at all yesterday when I used it. The other thing is that it's not super comfortable to write with. The grip area could use a softer material, even if just a hard plastic, to increase writing comfort. Still, even with those nitpicks it's a solid pen, and I definitely recommend it to people tired of losing their pens at work all the time. Well worth the price!!

I love these. I am a mechanic and carry it in my pocket. Fairly durable with the only negative being the plastic in the center of the pen. I used it to pop the tape on a box and broke my first one after carrying it for around 5 years. Not it's intended use but I had forgot my knife. Buy the refills and it will last you a long time unless somebody steals it.

Overall, I like the pen. It's like a heavy duty version of the good old F301. While the upper barrel is metal, the lower barrel is plastic. Albeit thick plastic. It doesn't feel imbalanced. I usually clip my pen in my front jeans pocket and this guy sticks up a little higher than my F701 because of the clip design. My only disappointment is that the flat black paint has very quickly rubbed off in spots (from contact with keys, coins, and such) and left bright shiny chrome peeking through. I wonder if some sort of enamel or anodizing would produce a more durable finish? I'll probably scrape it down to the shiny chrome, or I may experiment with different coatings.

Took it onto a Denali expedition. Worked well to -20F at 17200ft. Used it all season at lower elevations that were warmer. Took it with only 10% ink left into Denali. It was only -10F but because the ink and pressure was so low and it had been used all year it did not work well. Please replace the cartridges often if you want all temperature and all weather performance. What is really nice is there is a lanyard loop and that allows it to be tethered to your notebook case or map-case or battle board. It is expensive to lose.
