Good Deal
We ordered this at a bargain basement price for my parents. None of us were expecting too much, but frankly we're blown away - it's comparable to my (admittedly 2-year-old) Sharp television (that cost three times as much at the time). The picture is crisp, the colors are good, it's fairly intuitive to set up your preferences, and it's well-built without being too heavy. The only complaint is the sound, but I've found that's an issue for most large TVs. We supplemented it with a cheap Logitech sound system, and haven't looked back! If you're looking for a good television at a good price, this is a great option.

Great 50" 1080p unit for the price, below-average sound, questionable quality control.
Well, this is why you don't buy new TV's online. I took a day off of work to be home when the TV arrived so as to sign for it, then my first mistake was rearranging the living room to accommodate the new unit, including installing it on the wall mount purchased separately. The first problem I noticed was the HDMI 1, component, and digital audio ports are all facing downward on the back of the unit, making them very difficult if not impossible to connect while wall-mounted (HDMI 2, 3, and other inputs are on the left side). Secondly, after mounting to the wall and managing to connect HDMI1 and digital audio (after an hour's worth of tinkering to get them connected and mounted at the same time), then the unit would power on but had no picture. I called Seiki customer support, and during the 20 minutes of hold time I was able to contact Amazon online and arrange for a replacement to be shipped to me. Once Seiki customer support came onto the phone, it was an Indian call center whom could barely speak intelligible English. After 20 minutes of troubleshooting on the phone, which mostly consisted of asking the rep to repeat herself because I couldn't understand her, she informed me "there seems to be a problem with the picture on your tv, you need to contact Amazon to resolve the issue and get a replacement unit". So, buyer beware. As to Amazon, they were amazing. While I was holding for Seiki customer support, Amazon had already arranged to ship me a replacement unit and gave me 30 days to return the defective one. If I were not already into the purchase this far, I would simply pay the extra money to go to a retail outlet to purchase a new TV. But I can't fault Amazon for this one, and thus far they have been excellent in their support and service, even though I have the hassle of repackaging the TV and finding a UPS store to ship it back (free of charge). As to Seiki, I will update my review once the replacement unit arrives and give an honest review of it's performance (assuming it works). But this will be my first and last purchase of expensive electronics via online order.ADDED 12/12/2014: First I want to rave a moment on both Amazon and UPS for their excellent service. The defective unit from my original purchase arrived on Tuesday, and I am writing this on Friday with the (working) replacement already installed. Both Amazon and UPS are on top of things. Having a working replacement unit on-hand 3 days after reporting it via mail order is remarkable, especially during the Christmas rush. I still have the bad TV ready to take to a UPS shipper at my convenience within the next 30 days from purchase, and I was not home when UPS attempted their first delivery of the replacement today, and I had arranged to go to the UPS shipping center to pick it up tonight, when the UPS truck, out of the blue, returned for a second attempt on the SAME DAY. They were amicable and helpful upon delivery. Kudos to UPS and Amazon, PARTICULARLY during the Christmas rush. Now, I'm going to try to not be too hard on Seiki and actually review the working unit, so I have upgraded my star rating of the TV from 1 to 4 stars based on the working unit (if the sound were decent, I'd give it 5 stars). I'll give Seiki the benefit of a doubt here since I can't guarantee the first TV I was shipped by amazon wasn't handled badly, dropped during shipping, etc. Since I have a small 19" Seiki in the kitchen that I've owned for a few years now and works perfectly, that's 2 out of 3 units I've purchased from them that worked out of the box. Not desirable by any means from a manufacturer's standpoint, but like I said, I'll give them the benefit of a doubt on the DOA unit I wrote about above. Now, to the working 50" 1080p TV (paid $349 on Cyber Monday)... this is a great unit if you're on a budget. As I mentioned above, the HDMI 1, component, and digital audio ports are all placed badly from a design standpoint. 99.9% of users are going to be using one or more of these ports, and if you're using a near-flush wall mount as I am, it isn't exactly easy to connect the cables. Once you play around with it for a few minutes you're able to do it, and since you generally only need to connect these once, it's not a huge deal. (On a side note though, it shouldn't be too hard to put all the ports facing one direction on the side of the unit). In the end it's just a minor inconvenience. Now, the caveat to that is that they DO actually give you digital audio output and THREE HDMI inputs. I've been shopping 50"+ HDTV's in the $400-$600 price range for a few months, and finding a unit that offers 3 HDMI's *AND* digital audio out in this price range is hard to find (particularly the digital/optical audio). It was the major reason I went with this unit. So I'll deal with the odd port layout in exchange for the additional features of the unit. As to the stand, as a large amount of users will be using the stand instead of mounted, I can't speak much to that as I didn't actually connect the stand and try it out. I am a single dad of 3 and 5 year old boys, and the included stand, while heavy at about 5 lbs, is small and I wouldn't even consider using it with rambunctious children around. I see it being tipped over and hitting the floor within a few days if I used the stand around my boys. Take that for what it's worth. If you're using any sort of VESA mount on the wall or with your entertainment center, you'll have no worries. Now to the one flaw, the built-in sound. It is atrocious. The TV this unit is replacing was a 32" 720p Sanyo, and I suppose I always took the sound on my Sanyo for granted, because the sound on the Sanyo is wonderful compared to the speakers on this Seiki. I hardly ever used my surround sound system with the Sanyo unless I was watching a movie or live sports. The sound on this unit is all treble. You are able to listen to what you are watching just fine, but the sound is comparable to what my cheap 1" bluetooth speaker puts out from my phone. You can manage, but it isn't good by any definition. Audiophiles will definitely want go with a TV that provides better stock sound, or a soundbar, or better. If you just want to be able to hear what you're watching, you'll be fine. I don't like the fact that the system sound levels cover such a wide range. To "turn it down" when you get a phone call or are talking to someone in the room, or likewise, to "turn it up" or "turn it down" requires a good 20 clicks on the scale. It's inconvenient to hold the remote volume key for 5-10 seconds to truly adjust the volume level to what you're after. It will take some getting used to. Given I'm using this unit with a Dolby 5.1 surround sound system via the digital audio port, it sounds great through external audio, which I will be using much more often with this TV. I only included this bit for people who intend to use the built-in speakers with the unit. Now to the picture, it's great. I'm impressed. It's exactly what I'd expect from a 50" 1080p HDTV. It's bright and colors are full. The settings you create for each individual input are remembered, so you can set each input to your desired settings and the TV remembers it. The default settings are pretty good, so if you don't like to fine tune then you'll be satisfied, but I like the option to adjust to my own preferences which this TV provides. One caveat is that adjusting the "tint" setting is disabled by default, but you can enable it fairly easily. Google it if you want to enable tint adjustment and you can. (I like things a shade to the full side).I watch a fair amount of video via .avi files from my computer. They're low resolution generally, which wasn't much noticeable on the 32" 720p Sanyo I've used for the past 5 years or so. The low quality is much more noticeable on this unit given it's larger size, but still watchable. I expected this, and it isn't a big problem. It's a matter of screen size and would be an issue on even expensive units of this size.Video games on PS3, XBOX 360, and PS4 look wonderful. With the larger screen size at 50", i'm now able to ditch my "video game chair" I used right in front of the TV and play from the couch on the far end of the room with no problems. To summarize, the first unit I received would power on but had no picture whatsoever. Amazon and UPS were exceptional in getting a working unit in my hands 3 DAYS LATER. The working unit has mediocre sound, but meets or exceeds my expectations on every other front. For the price ($350), I'm more than pleased with my purchase at this point. My only concern is longevity (as in, will the TV still be working 3+ years from now). If something happens and the unit goes bad, I'll post back here and update my review. If there are no further updates, you can assume the TV is still working as good as the day I got it.

FANTASTIC BETTER THAN I DREAMED
I bought this television as a video monitor and I compliment this company for putting the plugs needed on this set to turn this 50 inch TV into a computer monitor and it has turned out better than I dreamed! NOW FLYING with Microsoft Flight Simulator X Gold Editions is just spectacular. The picture quality is much better thatn I expected.I do gaming and for the legally blind as I am you will never go back to a small monitor belive me. Chess games are huge and i have nothing but good things to say about this 50" TV.I went to wal Mart and other store and very few of the large TVs had the VGA and other plug ins for the Computer hooup plugs. I would highly recommend this Seki TV to anyone, get ready to be blown away.Compliments to this company for including VGA and other ports for me.

I would buy this again
I bought this in November of 2014 and writing this in January 15.I was skeptical of this brand not having heard of it before. I bought this Television as a gift for my parents. They were amazed at the picture quality, I have an LG and Samsung TV's and I too thought the picture looked good. Cost was great, delivery was on time and package was in great shape as well. I have never been to up on the refresh rates but the parents have a satellite so sometimes the picture freezes and reappears. (Not TV's fault) I would definitely buy this again. It has enough HDMI hook ups.It does not have built in features such as Netflix and hulu. Parents don't have internet so no need. However I did buy two 32 inch ones in this brand after buying the 50" that do have the features and they work fine as well.

dead pixel on arrival.
Super mixed emotions on this one. Just arrived today, not the best picture in the world, but still a great value. Unfortunately, it has a dead pixel. I REALLY don't want to ship it back. Some users seemed to have cracked TVs on arrival. With that, at least you know you have to return or exchange it. Maybe this sort of thing happens with more popular brands, I don't know. I'm mostly just bummed. I'll probably just keep it, but it sucks to pay full price for a shabby product.
