Q: can you add additional race track strips? to make jumps or whatever

Yes, you can do it !!! But, it is too fun already...My son is 2 1/2 years old and play with this every day !!! It is confidential: I love to play this with him...I always buy new cars and always choose the slower car, so he can win the race.

Q: Item discontinued, So whys this version so much cheaper than other listings on amazon? Is it grey market or does amazon itself have any units on hand?

If this is in regards to the 6 lane raceway, they (Matel) make a bunch every 3 to 5 years and then sell out. Then 3 to 5 years later come out with it again. Its the orange one. Once this item sells out you can easily see prices for $300 to $600 on ebay. $300 being about the lowest.

it will depend on which iyou choose to purchase, if you chose to buy a new item, then yes, it will come as brand new, unused in original manufacturers box. If you choose to purchase the used option, then, you may not receive a brand new item in original packaging. Not sure which option you are looking to buy, but hope this helps!
