Total traction, every inch
As a handicap assistant, I like this ramp. It's solid aluminum, so there is no black sandpaper to wear off. It provides confident traction from top to bottom; the sharp ribs make it impossible to slip. It supports more than enough weight for any wheel chair rider. It is a good size to keep in the car because you never know where you might need it. It has transition plates on the top and bottom, yay.

So handy and great price.
I cannot left heavy weights and cannot leave a permanent ramp in place at my rental home, so these have worked out so well. I purchased two because I have two steps to deal with, and I am able to move them in and out of place as needed. They fold nicely and have a handle so I can flip it closed to move. Has really made it possible to use wheelchair and get out of the house without structural change.

Difficult to walk down the ramp
I bought this for an elderly parent that has issues with her knees. I wanted to eliminate steps between the kitchen and the garage. The threshold from the kitchen to the garage is 8.5" high. The previous solution was two shallow steps 3" high each and ~18" deep. She had an easier time walking up the ramp but she felt terrible pressure at her knees when walking down the steps. So, returning to this and the search for a better solution continues.By the way, the product is light and well-made. However, I can't imagine how it's rated 800 lbs load capacity. I am 200 lbs and when I walked on it, there was a noticeable give in the ramp planks. Perhaps the rating is specifically for a wheelchair where the load is balanced between the two planks?

Can’t Believe How Great This Is!
My girlfriend has been in a wheelchair since high school. I’ve always gone to her house to visit because of the step-up at all my entries. When I was moving my Mother last summer I noticed they used an aluminum ramp at her front entry. I asked them about it and they let me lift it. It was amazingly light for such a sturdy ramp. So I set about looking at commercial-grade ramps. But then I saw this one and took a chance. It is just wonderful! Very light-weight (I’m a 60-yr old woman and can lift it with one arm.) I just store it folded in my garage and bring it out whenever she comes over. No problem with it holding her big motorized wheel-chair! I’m so happy. And she bought one to always keep in her van. Added bonus…it’s great to roll my dolly out when moving boxes with seasonal items to storage.

Yup it will hold
I have a 9 inch single step going up into my 1954 home. This allowed me to fairly easy get my wheelchair-bound dad in and out. I couldn’t secure it down and I still felt pretty good about going up and down it although It is steep i needed that with a screened in porch. I would recommend measuring and then re-measuring as I could’ve gone up a size. I’m 300 pounds and it didn’t even flex. As long as you don’t kick off when you step up then you’re OK not having it secured down. although I could see easily securing it down with a piece of wood across the doorway to the wood frame and then drilled into the bottom that just wasn’t feasible for me and the bottom of my doorstep is concrete block. I loved that you can put it down and it’s temporary.

feels secure enough yet lightweight and portable
My 81 year old mother uses a walker to get around and is extremely fearful of falling. She stepped onto the ramp and did not appear to be petrified as she often is with something new. Its sturdy and secure. Did not slip out of place and that's important. Now mom can sit out on the back porch, get some sun and listen to the birds.

HEAVY!!!
I bought the 3ft.. This may be a very good ramp if you don't have to carry it. I have no idea. The description states it is portable and weighs around 16 lbs. I can carry 16 lbs in my sleep. I did not weigh the ramp when I received it, but I could barely lift the box with great difficulty, so I suspect it was heavier. When I opened the box, I just saw a little bit of styrofoam around it, so that wouldn't have added much weight, though I suppose the box had some weight to it. I did not take the ramp out of the box, since I decided to return it, because I did not believe I could carry it, which was my planned way of using this item. This may be good for permanent attachment or transportation in a car.
