We are very pleased with the design and build quality of this hedgehog shelter. It arrives fully built, no assembly needed. The roof has an overall lip all the way round, so it lifts off. Much better for complete waterproofness and probably less wind too. The sleeping/hibernation area is bigger than some others on the market. This is great, as it wil hopefully provide room for more insulation, ie the wood-wool and dry leaves we will include for hedgehogs, which they may want to add to. It also means that if a female hedgehog chooses to give birth in it, there is sufficient room for babies. Modifications we have made: - rubber feet underneath so it won't sit on a damp surface - in fact, we will also have it sitting on an 18" square paving slab. - block of thin polystyrene insulation in the recess under the floor. - block of insulation on the underside of the roof, covered by thin ply. - small ventillation hole in end wall to allow limited ventillation - a downwards-pointing 90-degree 25mm waste-pipe connector, with added insect screen insert. We hope it will be used as a winter hibernation and rest-of-year shelter. We won't use it as a feeding station, as apparently it is recommended not to mix the two functions. We have already made a small dry feeding station out of an old plastic toolbox with entrance tunnel made out of an old floweerpot, which is being used daily, and that will remain in place close to this new hibernation home.

As this is my second hedgehog house I have purchased from this company you would think I would rater 5 stars (or why would I buy another), however since buying the last house, the design has changed slightly, hence only 4 stars. The inside of the previous house had a divider with an archway cut into it for the hedgehog to get through, but it stopped other predators. The new version does not have the archway, just a half length divider. I took the house out of the box and within minutes found my cat had got inside of it, then he got out and the other cat got in so it couldn't be too difficult, this cannot therefore be as predator proof, nor will it stop cats in my garden from getting into the house, eating the food and scaring the hedgehogs. The house itself is still sturdy and well made, but not as easy to carry as the old design, I am bemused as to why a good design would change to an inferior design? That said it is still good value for money and I will be keeping it - please can we have the old design back?

The Kingston Hedgehog House is excellent quality and feels really sturdy. It’s well‑designed, with a secure entrance and plenty of space inside, making it ideal for hibernation or year‑round shelter. The build feels durable enough to handle the weather, and it sits nicely in the garden without standing out too much. A brilliant option if you want to give visiting hedgehogs a safe, cosy place to settle. Definitely deserving of 5 stars.

Excellent small hog houses. I bought two to use as feeding stations for the hogs. This way, cats can't enter the houses to eat the dry cat food. No assembly required. Well built. Totally waterproof ( we've had torrential rain recently). Very reasonably priced. Well packaged.

This is a nicely made wooden hedgehog house, with a green-coloured bitumen roof covering. The house is supplied by a third party seller and took a few days to arrive, but was well within the estimated delivery window. The house came in a single layer of cardboard box that fitted snuggly. The house is made from treated wood, so should last well, and has catches at the front and back of the roof so that it can be lifted off and then firmly reattached. There is an entrance tunnel and a shielded compartment to the side of this, helping to provide occupant hedgehogs with a safe space that's covered against the elements and away from potential predators. I ordered this at the beginning of November, when lots of hedgehogs were still active in our garden. I set it up with a nest of maple leaves, and a supply of food and water. This failed to attract a single hedgehog to stay, even though at least one was still actively seeking food in our garden well in to December and there were signs (in the form of poop!) that hedgies had at least visited the house overnight in order to feed. I’m not particularly troubled by this initial lack of success: our garden is mostly surrounded by hedging and is flanked on a couple of sides by fields. There are plenty of reasonable, natural places for hedgehogs to hibernate without needing to resort to man-made hedgehog hotels – we at least had provided the option, and this has seen good use as a covered feeding and watering station. Indeed, to my amusement, both squirrels and some of the chaffinches visiting our garden have been raiding the hedgehog house’s store of food and water. This seems only fair: we have a few squirrel feeders around the garden, including one we sited low down – and the hedgehogs are more than happy to snaffle food from this.

Very fast delivery by FedEx. I am really happy with this product. I bought this to house Bumble Bees in Summer, then double up as a Hedgehog hibernation box in Winter. The Bumble Bees are supplied from a breeder as a wild Queen probably wouldn't choose this as her hive. The only thing I did was put duct tape on a few areas where the wood's natural resin was Leaching out. That will stop after a while anyway but I don't want the Bees to get stuck on it. To say it is lightweight it seems very sturdy. I particularly like the lift off roof with the plastic securing clips either side, simple idea. When the Bees are in residence I certainly won't be lifting the Lid.

Geräumiges Schlaf- oder Futterhaus, auch für ausgewachsene Igel geeignet. Durch einen seitlichen Schlitz kann Feuchtigkeit (z.B. Atemluft des Igels) abziehen, so dass Schimmelbildung vermieden wird. Ob das Haus wetterfest ist, kann ich noch nicht sagen, es sieht aber danach aus. Gute und stabile Holzqualität und bestens verarbeitet. Das Dach ist abschüssig, so dass Regen gut ablaufen kann. Das Häuschen wird bereits zusammengebaut geliefert. Dafür gäbe es von mir sogar noch einen 6. Stern, wenn dies möglich wäre. Auf jeden Fall Kaufempfehlung!

Le compré esta casita a mi erizo con la mala suerte que estaba enfermo y murió antes de poderla disfrutar... así que solicité el reembolso y su devolución con gran sorpresa de que no hacía falta devolverla por dicho motivo, para mi es un gran detalle de su parte.

La casetta per il riccio è arrivata nei tempi previsti. In previsione dell' autunno l' ho subito sistemata in giardino e coperta con una tettoia in plexiglass per ripararla dalla pioggia. Ho messo dentro del fieno e le crocchette e sin dalla prima sera il riccetto, attratto dal cibo, l' ha utilizzata per mangiarci dentro. Diventerà anche il suo nascondiglio, dove trascorrere in letargo il periodo invernale? Chissà, io sono molto contento dell' acquisto e lo consiglio.

Petite maison pour mes 3 herissons , tres solide, tres esthétique, par contre petit bémol les jeunes chats peuvent rentrer chercher la gamelle des herissons depuis donc je sors le tunnel en bonne partie a l exterieur et les chats n aiment pas du tout donc ne rentrent pas du tout ni petits ni plus gros

Ein sehr schönes stabiles Igelhaus. Es wäre noch besser wenn eine Rattenklappe drin wäre. Meine Igel im Garten nehmen es gerne an. Es wurde schnell geliefert, auspacken und aufstellen. Habe Zeitungspapier rein gelegt, da Igel ja nicht unbedingt zu den saubersten Tieren gehören. Die sauen ganz schön beim fressen rum. Somit kann man dann das Haus leicht reinigen und sauber halten. Neues Papier rein und fertig.
