Barbie: A Fashion Fairytale

Good price made a great birthday gift for my daughter

I bought this movie in 2010 and we still have it in 2024. Their stories are always timeless and we watch it year after year; no matter what age you are, these movies are fun.

Mattel makes these. Mattel is a toy company. The movie is ok with a nice story. It has good colors.

My 8 and 3 year old girls adore Barbie movies, and I enjoy watching them too. The storylines are usually interesting and Barbie is a good role model, so I don't mind watching them over and over. This one is one of the older movies and has Barbie as an actress who gets fired from her movie and dumped by Ken the same day in the first 10 minutes. Wasn't too fond of that part because the movie starts off negative, but it got better. Barbie is upset and decides to go visit her aunt who owns a clothing line boutique in Paris. When she gets there, she finds that her aunt has sold the store due to lack of business and they only have a few days left. Barbie can't accept this and she and her aunt's apprentice design clothes and unlock some glitter fairies that make these clothes just wow. They end up putting on a fashion show and saving the boutique. And Ken apparently hadn't broken up with her via phone, it was Raquelle playing a trick, so he sets off after Barbie. He acts a bit desperate and pathetic, but it all ends happily. Overall, a great movie and now my daughter is interested in sketching fashion.One thing I will caution you on is you need to check the DVD for scratches when it arrives and make sure it plays. Literally every Barbie movie I've purchased lately is loose in the case - it's always off the prongs rattling around even though it's sealed. I checked it to make sure it played before I gave it to the girls just in case.

I have read the poor reviews on here, and I do not have any other Barbie movies to compare this to, but since the day it was on TV my 4 year old daughter has been obsessed!! Now the poor reviews say that this is geared toward older kids, but seriously dont most ALL movies these days, fairytales and others have things that an adult could find inappropriate for most young children!! I dont think my 4 year old cared about the getting fired from jobs and boyfriend breakups, etc. What she did love was the Flaries, the puppies, the fun dresses, Barbie, Marie Alecia, and even Aunt Millicent!! She got all the dolls for Christmas and loves them!! I personally also liked the movie! And would recommend it to those parents who wouldnt read too much into the some parts of the storyline! :)

This is one of our favorite Barbie movies. We have watched it for years.
