CaribSea Phos Buster Pro for Fresh or Salt Water, 8-Ounce

Bought 2 bottles of PhosBuster Pro based on the fact the Amazon and a large aquarium/fish distributor/vendor indicated that the product is safe for all freshwater and marine specimens. So, I purchased the product based on the false premise that the information I had received from the distributor and Amazon was accurate. This is not the truth of the matter. After I read the bottle and fine print, it says “Do not use in lower hardness freshwater systems (for example, soft water discus tanks).” And, there is also a warning regarding its use with some saltwater applications. Guess what? I have a 90-gallon R.O. soft water system for nine (9) very high quality brilliant turquoise discus fish (6” specimens). Therefore, this product is useless for my need and I intend to inform both the company CaribSea and the distributors alluded to above and make them aware of this dilemma. The issue is not one of money because Amazon will refund the purchase price. The real horror is that: (1) I was led to believe it was safe to use in all marine and freshwater systems, and (2) Had I not read every sentence of the product information on the back of the bottle prior to dosing, I would have been accountable for any problems that would have arose; quoting the manufacturer on the bottle: “The manufacturer, distributor and vendor accept NO LIABILITY (emphasis added) associated with the use of this product.” At the very least, I hope that any prospective purchaser of PhosBuster Pro will be well served by the information I have provided herein. You can verify my statements by reading Amazon’s product description and also from the ad that follows taken from the distributor/vendor’s catalog: “Removes phosphates from your aquarium in minutes not days. This powerful formula safe is all for all fish and inverts. Great for fresh or saltwater. 8 oz. size treats up to 250 gallons.”

It took a lot of work, but I finally discovered that my freshwater algae problems were being caused by high phosphate levels in my tap water. A phosphate medium in my canister filter did not fix the problem, but a blast of PhosBuster Pro once a month is doing the trick. I can't use traditional algae control products as they are hazardous for my Cobalt Lobster. I have no idea why it is so expensive, but it was worth every penny!

Don't waste your money, it has not lowed my Phos at all and have been using it for 13 days.

got rid of my black algae, that I have been battling for almost a year. was considering just taking down the tank. this has been a lifesaver for my tank.

This was just perfect for my sky high phosphate levels. I used a capful and things are just great.

best thing out there, saved my fish. i got tiered of changing filter media to control phosphate level. great product, Too bad petland does not sell it.
