Super clean, minimalist alarm clock radio.
I try not to sleep with my phone on the nightstand so I can resist the urge to scroll through it before bed. Unfortunately it is my most convenient means to setting an alarm and checking the time in the morning. A simple solution: a good old fashioned alarm clock. This clock radio fulfilled all expectations. It has an AM/FM tuner, an alarm feature, and despite what other reviewers said you CAN manually set the time. I really appreciate the simple aesthetic, is easy to read, and it looks great on the nightstand. The brightness settings are adjustable, but honestly even the brightest setting is not going to disturb you unless you are an extremely light sleeper. My only tiny complaints; I wish it had an AM preset and an FM preset. I like to listen to baseball games on the AM dial, and wake up to music on the FM dial. It also only has one alarm - but it's really not a hassle to set it a few hours forward or backward if I want to sleep in or get up early. My renewed version of this clock looked essentially new. $15 for this alarm clock was a steal.

This is a great little bedside clock radio
This is a reat little bedside clock radio. Small footprint, easy toadjust and read the display and, for its price and size, it has a good quality sound. The only thing that could use improvement on are the adjustment buttons on th back. They and their lables are all the same black color/material as the radio housing itself, making it difficult for older eyes to identify.

Budget Sony refurb is So-so.
At $15 for the 'refurbished' product, you can't complain about the price. I found set-up simple enough, though being a bit intuitive about basic electronics won't hurt. What does hold it back are the small buttons and smaller text stamped on or next to them, all in black on black.Unlike many other clock radios, this does not have digital tuning or a digital display of the station selection, just a small wheel dialer and VERY small numbers printed in grey on black, seen through a little window. So, as a radio it leaves something to be desired. That said, my chosen FM station comes in clearly, and the volume is loud enough for bedroom use.Mine arrived with a fresh battery in new package, and, as others have noted, the original battery in the radio was no longer working. But I appreciate the inclusion of a new one.A note on function: the LED display shows ONLY the time, with a symbol to show the alarm is set, as well as a small indicator of whether you're on daylight or standard time. To briefly see the alarm setting, you have to press one of the <> buttons for the alarm. As mentioned above, the radio station is not indicated on the face of the clock. This is a bare bones clock/radio. I like the understated design, but overall this one may leave some wishing for a more talented wake-up call.

does not keep accurate time and is impossible to set it
this clock gained 20 minutes in a month, and I am unable to set it to the correct time. If I had done more poking around, I would have discovered this is a known and unsolvable issue for the entire life of this product-has to do with the fact that "Sony was too cheap to use a proper IC that tracks the time via the AC mains frequency" according to IFixit.com. the radio is ok, but the clock is useless unless you always know how much it is off. this is a true POS.

Amazon refurbished item is great!
I wanted a Sony dream machine alarm clock and this item came up in my Amazon search. It is an Amazon refurbished item and it was listed as excellent condition. You’d never know it was previously used by anyone. I like that the display is an amber color; not LED white or red like so many other new alarm colors. Those are so bright they light up your entire bedroom. The amber color does not. Also you can adjust the brightness of the display. Easy enough to set up; it came with the original instructions. It did not come with the battery back up but that’s ok. The price was right and fit my budget perfectly.

Good Sound, Hard to Tune
It's a nice little radio with easy to see display time and good sound. On the other hand the tuning dial is tiny, so it's hard to tune, and it has no presets. So any time you change stations it takes some patience to find another or to return to the original station.

I got this specifically because it dims.
I hate waking up in the middle of the night, only to have my retinas burned when I look to see what time it is. I've had other alarm clocks that dim but they never dim enough. This one does. I got the renewed clock and it has worked flawlessly for the last few months but I only use it to know what time it is.
