Berard Acero Olive Wood Pepper Mill

I bought this item to go with the salt cellar by the same manufacturer. I like the wood and finish, and it performs well at grinding with some adjustment for the size of the grind.It can be difficult to fill- you hold it upside down, take off the plastic nut at the bottom, and then remove a cap and spring. To be safe I typically fill this over another bowl to save the pepper that falls over the side as I'm filling it, and use a small bowl to store the three parts I removed to refill it. While I've had other grinders that were easier to fill, this works well and holds enough peppercorns that I don't see this as being a detriment to the product.The wood is excellent, and the finish is nice. Following the manufacturer directions, you can easily restore the finish with a light application of food-safe oil or beeswax, though the wood wears exceptionally well. I have two of these grinders- there is definitely some variation in the wood, but that is in my mind a feature and not a flaw.

We bought this mill and the matching salt grinder. We bought them because we like the style. It's amazing how limited the selection is with salt and pepper mills. The salt grinder works great but this pepper mill has really not worked at all. We've had this for about a year now so we've given it more than a fair chance and I'm just getting around to writing this review. But, I am about to throw this thing in the fire pit. It seems like the mechanism is not able to grab onto the peppercorns. Every once in awhile it grabs one and you can get some pepper. I don't know if we got a defective unit but it is virtually unusable.

LOVE this salt mill, BUT second time it’s broken after a few times used, got it with the pepper grinder. Had the pepper grinder over a year. This salt mill has broken within 2 months. Used the recommended salt and kept clean. Very disappointed, but beautiful.

unable to adjust the grind

Beautiful to look at, but doesn't work at all. The grinding mechanism is so shabby that the spring is constantly stuck making it impossible to replenish the pepper corns. Only good thing about this product is its looks.

Good quality product

I love the look of the pepper mill. However, it does not work well. I'm extremely disappointed. I would not recommend purchasing.

This is a beautifully crafted piece of wood and turns and grinds extremely smoothly and quietly. I love using it!
