Best tape measure ever
If you've owned these tapes before you probably aren't looking at reviews to figure out if these are good or not because you already know they're awesome. If you haven't owned one stop reading and hit buy now! The auto lock feature took me a little to get used to but once I did I fell in love. The blade has decent stand out and the coating allows it to last quite a long time of heavy everyday use before you'll need to replace this.

poorly made
As a framer (custom homes), I have used Fat Max tapes for years and loved them all. I decided to try the auto lock and it sucks. After struggling for a month to get it to actually lock the tape off solid the lock button finally popped off never to be seen again. It kind of worked for a month. I will still recommend the regular Fat Max tape however.

Not durable
Tape measure lasted 3 months. Paint began to strip off the back and it would struggle to retract. Then the tape measure itself detached from the housing unit.

Broke in 3 weeks
The auto lock feature broke in 3 weeks. Very disappointed in fat max. These used to be my go to tape measure. Not anymore! These are junk.

The lock broke about two hours in.
Pros:It's easy to read.It comes with a hook attachment the clips on the other side. The auto-lock feature was really nice while it lasted.Cons:The auto-lock feature broke very quickly. Barely enough to get my feet wet with the feature before the tape started creeping back in on its own. Very disappointing. I think Stanley could fix this if they simply put a better stop or spring on it.

Auto-"Lock" feature is a joke
The media could not be loaded. ย Most of the design and construction of this tape measure seems fairly solid. Unfortunately, the Auto-Lock feature only seems to be good enough to barely work when the tape measure is still in it's display pack at the store. It hasn't worked properly since I first bought it about a year ago locally. Especially if it is used in an environment with any sawdust, the lock feature only wants to work as a "creeping retraction" feature. Also, though this seems to be common to many tape measures, the belt clip screw works loose every week or so of use.
